In summer 2008 I finally broke down and bought an HDTV and it has been one of the best decisions ever. I also have expensive taste (fortunately or unfortunately) so I had to buy the best HDTV available, that would also not become outdated in a year or two. With months of intense research I bought Samsung's Series 7 40", the top of the line model by Samsung in 2008, and also rated the best LCD, comparable or even better than the black level on most plasmas, even the Pioneer KURO. Currently with HDTV's you want to stick with Samsung, Sony or Sharp (and Panasonic, Pioneer, Toshiba for plasma) but obviously if you are on a budget you have to go for lesser brands like Vizio or Dynex. For me, I put it all on the line and went top quality with the best Samsung LCD avail in 2008...would have went with a 52" version of the model, but that was getting too pricey... Right now the 52" is the same price I paid for the 40" in store when it came out...it makes me pretty sad! But no worries, 40" is decent enough. Once next gen comes I will get a new TV, minimum of 52". This model is great because it has tons of inputs and outputs to hold a lot of game systems at once hooked up for example. I actually feel the need to set up one of my old TVs (unfortunately got rid of the one I used for my old NES/SNES/Master System days) for nostalgia sake and viewing games on a more "imperfect" TV, giving a true image of what we remember gaming on back in the days. Post the following to the best of your knowledge in this format for easy reference here is mine: Brand: Samsung Size: 40" Model: LN40A750 Type: LCD HDTV Resolution: 1080p Some pics of it from the internet, ![]() ![]() Post pics of your TV, preferably in use with games! I will post pics of my setup soon. Edited by topofuji, Jan 27 2009, 07:13 PM.

Nice, what is the model/is it LCD, DLP, plasma? Also guys I do feel the need to employ one of my old late 70's to mid 80's TVs in my gaming room, to like I said in the first post, get that "authentic" retro feel out of old games. But for current gen gaming you're kidding yourselves if you aren't playing on a nice HDTV. |

I just picked up my Dynex a couple months ago with my 360 Elite and I couldn't be happier with it! It's 100% as good as any name brand I've seen and it was nice and cheap! Only $699 for a 42" 1080p is ridiculous! I was a bit skeptical about the picture when I bought it, but it is amazing! Of course, I still got my old 19" magnavox with an internal VHS and DVD player...oh yea! That baby has never failed me! Brand: Dynex Size: 42" Model: DX-LCD42HD-09 Type: LCD HDTV Resolution: 1080p Thanks, -Cody |

Have a 52" Sam (LN52A550) Didn't need the 120hz pull down so I took the model below that. Over all a nice TV for HD content. Have a 27" Sony (Kv-27sf12) That I have been using a for a long time good little tv TVS You can kinda see both tvs in this shot (I would link right to the image, but its huge ) |

Well with the Series 7 (750) there are other advantages to the Series 5 besides 120hz, but... As far as the 120hz mode goes (low, medium, high) I never really notice a difference, or possibly for some things it makes it better or worse. Just whenever I do the side by side "demo" mode of it on and off I never see a difference. Will I ever know?? What I do know is that it's very beneficial for Blu-Ray and 1080p native content, as well as when using the TV as a PC monitor...but for everything else I am confused. Anyone want to chime in. |

the s5 vs the s7 just didnt have the bang for the $$$ if you know what I mean.. 120hz IMO is a waste of $$$ I am an anal prick about that kinda stuff and I could tell VERY little difference even at 1080p, id say it really matters on the source tho for sure. |

When my T.V broke about two years ago, pretty much after X-mas, go figure. I purchased either a 32' or a 37' Toshiba HDTV I think Regza model, 1080i output. It has served me well, great game quality, I can't complain, even though the same model a few months afterwards was selling for almost $400 cheaper. OUCH, quick progression in technology sometimes really sucks. |

I am currently gaming on a 37" Samsung LCD TV, it's only capable of 720p/1080i but considering the high majority of this generations games that only support 720p I'm fine with it for now.
