Just something some of you collecting used games need to know if you don't already.

Ever search for a used game on the site to see if it's available at your local store, but then nothing comes up in the search results?

Gamestop/EBgames.com many times do not list a game on their site when you search for it. However, the page of the game still exists, and is updated daily just as any other game is with store availability. (of course you check this by typing your ZIP code in the "Store availability" box on the game page)

How do you find them you ask? Simple...

Example:
We are looking for a copy of Graffiti Kingdom and want to check on www.gamestop.com if it's available at our local store. So we go to the site. We type Graffiti Kingdom. Nothing comes up!

Now go to www.google.com. Type "Graffiti Kingdom gamestop".

Look, it exists!

The reason this happens is because if a game is not available new or used on their online store, it doesn't come up in their search results.

So when looking for a game that doesn't come up in the search and you want to check your store's availability, simply Google the name of the game with "gamestop" at the end.

Unfortunately the site doesn't list how many copies are left/if more are being shipped like it used to. Or do they still have that functionality but it's hidden? Anyone know? Doubtful.

Happy collecting and best of luck you find rarities still avaiiable at your local stores while you still can!

For the longest time I would search games and not get any results on their site, being let down and thinking the game isn't kept on Gamestop's database...only to find out this trick on my own much later and save the day!

I just hope noone that shops at my local stores knows about these things...many more rare games only have one copy left at stores that do have them, and if someone strolls in one day and buys it up, we're out of luck and have to resort to Ebay.

Great thread. I never knew. I have lots of games I have searched for on both sites and they come up as not available. Also everyone says how cheap Ebay and Amazon are. I dont see it. Maybe buy a few Dollars but not much. You may be able to get used games on ebay in better condition then in GameStop or EB games. I want to get Vice City for xbox on ebay, it says its complete with case, maps and manual all for $8.

I have a great tip for GameStop and EBGames shopping...

Don't shop there.

Most hypocritical business out there, it's really sickening.
