When I got my sega game gear, it came with mortal kombat. I liked this game a lot and wanted to start playing some different fighting games. I bought mortal kombat for sega genesis a couple of days ago on ebay and now i'm trying to find some other ones. Any suggestions for a really good gighting game not on PS3 or Xbox 360? Thanks.
Best system
1.NES
2.Super Nintendo
3.DS

If you own a Saturn, get Street Fighter Collection. I've been playing Street Fighter Alpha 2 Gold on there like crazy lately.
Street Fighter 3: The Third Strike on the Dreamcast is also good.
If you have plenty of cash to spare, pick up a copy of Marvel vs. Capcom 2.

now this is where I'm at my best. Fighters are my games.

Dreamcast has some of the greatest fighters known to mankind.

Street Fighter Third Strike is considered by most as the best fighter period.

Street Fighter Alpha 3 is awesome

Fatal Fury Mark of the Wolves is my favorite Fatal Fury game.

Project Justice is a sequel to Rival Schools on the PS1...both are great games but Project Justice is a little pricey.

Marvel vs. Capcom...no need to explain this.

Marvel vs. Capcom 2 is 100 times better on the Dreamcast then the PS2 and the Xbox, its also cheaper...its not a cheap game its just cheaper then the PS2 version.

Capcom vs. SNK is awesome as well.

Soul Calibur...is a fantastic games on the DC...at the time it was the most amazing looking game anybody ever saw.
Virtua Fighter 3tb is a pretty good Virtua Fighter game, if you like Virtua Fighter then pick it up.

Dead or Alive 2 was an extremely fun game and wasn't that hard to learn and play.

PS2 has some great fighters also like...

Capcom vs. SNK 2...awesome game but a little pricey so I wouldn't recommend you pick this up first.

Soul Calibur 2 is obviously the sequel to Soul Calibur and it did not disappoint

Just when you think soul Calibur can't get any better...they release Soul Calibur 3.

Tekken 4, 5 and Tag are must own fighters on the PS2. the awesome thing is that they are pretty cheap nowadays.

Virtua Fighter 4...no need to explain, its awesome and cheap.

Mortal Kombat Deception is one of my favorite Mortal Kombat games EVAR!

Guilty Gear X and Guilty Gear X2 are insanely fun games.

King of Fighters 2006 is decent but not the greatest, still enjoyable.

Sega Genesis had some awesome fighters, most of them are also available on the SNES too.

Eternal Champions is a great game but the controls feel a little stiff...if you have a Sega CD then pick up Eternal Champions on that...much much MUCH better and a lot better to control then the genesis version, it also has more characters and stage fatalities which is awesome.

Mortal Kombat
Mortal Kombat 2
Mortal Kombat Ultimate 3
Fatal Fury
Fatal Fury 2
Art of Fighting
Super Street Fighter 2
Street Fighter Champion Edition
Virtua fighter 2

Sega Saturn has some of my favorite import fighters like

X-Men vs. Street Fighter its also on the PS1 but its smoother on the Saturn

Marvel Super Heroes vs. Street fighter same as above but it includes more characters.

Fighting Vipers
Vampire Savior
Marvel Super Heroes isn't bad, its fun.
Street Fighter the Movie...its a cheesy concept for a game but its not as bad as you might think.

X-Men Children of Atom is Marvel vs. Capcom before it even came out...and minus the capcom part.

Thats all for now, there is more but these are what you should be aiming for.

EDIT: every fighter fan in the world is booing me for forgetting 2 awesome DC fighters...Power Stone and Power Stone 2, there is also a Power Stone collection on the PSP.

Also, if you don't mind an all girl cast, try Arcana Heart for the PS2.

oh man, from the first time I popped Mortal Kombat into my genesis I knew this was my kind of game. The ultimate test of skill is one on one combat...or kombat however you prefer it :)

Bloody Roar 3 [Playstation 2]
Bloody Roar: Primal Fury [GameCube]
Bloody Roar 4 [Playstation 2]

Oh and there’s Bloody Roar: Extreme on the Xbox, but you don’t have to buy that one.
