Almost the opposite of angleofdeath, but I really want to know why you guys buy games. In a sense, what catches your interest in gaming.... Cause gaming isn't just gaming, you have to like it.

I love video games because they take me away from reality that's why I love them. What I mean by that is I just focus on the gaming whether it be beating a boss or just enjoying the environments.

i dunno, i guess i could explain why i buy video games, i enjoy playing them, they act as like a break from reality.

just a few hours to essentially lock yourself away from the rest of the world, maybe with a few mates, and do things that really wouldnt happen in reality :P

I buy most games for either two different reasons. One being that I want to add it to my collection. I love the thrill of searching long for a game and then finding it to finally add to the shelf with all my other games. The second reason being that I really want to play the game. Sometimes I get very impulsive in wanting to play a certain type of game, so I'll go and buy the game to play to get my fix.

Well, I usually buy it because I've researched the game and I think it's going to be great. But if I see a game that looks interesting by the cover, I look at the back and read the description/look at the pictures and if it looks cool, I buy it. Also, is a game is really cheap I usually buy it.

I enjoy the feeling I get when I sit down with a good game that I have been waiting to play, I like feeling as though I'm immersed in another world, and instead of watching a movie where you really have no involvement but still develop an attachment to characters is even truer to video game where as you have a bit more input.

I think everyone in their childhood can recall a time of wanting to be a super hero (or even a villain) and in video games you often play that role, so it's fun, relaxing or intense depending on what genre you play. It's nice to get away, and video games is a great outlet.

Well, I game because it's what I enjoy doing. That's not a very exciting answer though.

A game has to have at least one of these things to catch my interest:
1. Length or Replayability - I'm certainly more willing to pay $60 for a game that has lasting value.

2. Engaging Story and/or Character Development - As a primarily RPG gamer, this is almost all-important. I don't really read novels any more, so I get this form of entertainment from games now.

3. Difficulty - As long as a game has a catchy premise and fun gameplay, nothing else matters but difficulty. Sometimes I play a game simply for the challenge. It might make me want to rip my hair out in frustration while starting it, but the thrill of finishing it is beyond comparison.

A moving story for a start. If something doesn't interest me I am not going to play it most likely. It also needs to be original in some way or another. That doesn't mean I won't play Halo cause its an FPS like COD, it means every game needs to having something that makes it unique.

I find gaming to be a great escape from the "real world" and is a great way to wind down after a long, stressful day. In addition, I can really appreciate the art aspects of games because no matter what anyone says, I believe that video games are art.

As for what aspects I look for in games when I purchase one, there are a few. Local co-op is always a really big plus for me since my boyfriend and I play together quite often -- so if a game has that, then there is a 90% chance that I'm going to at least give it a try. Yes, there is always online multi-player, but having to buy the same game twice gets really expensive.

An intriguing storyline and/or environment (Bioshock being a perfect example) is also really important because like I mentioned before, I liked to be "sucked in." It's an extra plus if the game can scare the bejeezus out of me, as well.

Of course, gameplay is always important. If the game just doesn't play well, then I'm not going to enjoy it, no matter how much I want to.

Sometimes I buy it just to make my collection bigger. But I usually buy a game that intrigues me. For example, I figured Chulip wasn't a very good game, but I am a sucker for weird crap so I bought it anyway.

I also sometimes buy them just to play with friends. Ex. Rainbow Six Vegas. It turned out to be my favorite game on the 360.

I buy almost every game for its own reasons though.

Why do I buy games? I'm not much of a collector so I would say I play games because I enjoy them. Certain aspects of games I enjoy... first the story (games replace books for me mostly lol), and sometimes I buy games with good co-op to share with friends. One of my favourites has to be Kuri Kuri Mix (or The Adventures of Cookie and Cream in the US)... just a nice game to have with simple controlls that anyone, even non-gamers can enjoy. Oh, and sometimes I buy games for the music (of course most of those are music games anyway, lol.)

Well I buy games because it allows me to "live" moments in life that I would never get to experience. Such as war games, I would/will never be in a war so it allows me to somewhat have an experience. I am also in love with the medievel times, I am realloy interested in the past centuries, so games such as Oblivion let me live the life of a character in those fantasy times. So the main reasons I buy games are: to get away from the stresses of life and relax, to have an experience I wouldn't be able to have otherwise, and to just relax and have a good time either by myself or with some friends.

I really buy games to have fun and relax. That's really why I prefer single player a lot of the time because you can take time and just enjoy the game at your own pace.
