Some of my favorite games on the Xbox 360 have no Online Multiplayer. Bioshock, Mass Effect, Fallout 3, and Oblivion are some that come to mind.

Of course I would still purchase it if it was a good game, like most users that replied in this thread online isn't everything, for a game to get me interested it has to have a solid solo campaign aspect.
I don't always have buddies online or at home to play with, and I don't really like relying much on random encounter battles or co-op online because I usually find them to be quite mean or rude.

Depends on the game. If the game is built in a way that supports cooperative or competitive challenge, then yes I would expect there be be an online multiplayer component in this day and age. It definitely shouldn't be forced into games that don't make sense for it, though, and for me it wouldn't be a factor.

I used to buy games almost soley for the single player experience. But actually that is starting to reverse for me. I love the feel of community in gaming at the moment so I'm tending to buy games soley for the online. I mean I bought COD5 and only played about an hour of the single player.

No I don't care if a game has online, if it's good I will still buy it. Sure online is an added bonus but sometimes online fails for what ever reason. I would never buy a game because of online or not buy it do to no online

Some of the best games I have played are single player only. Kingdom Hearts, Bioshock, Resident Evil 4,Oblivion, Ocarina of Time, etc. I could go on and on. So no MP is just an added bonus.

Depends on the genre for me. For shooters the game has to have a good online multiplayer or I won't buy it because I get bored of the campaign for FPS and TPS fast, such as Call of Duty or Killzone 2, COD would be a horrible game without its multiplayer, and Killzone 2 would still be good but not fantastic, because the online is the main focus. For an RPG such as Oblivion, Fallout 3, Fable 2, ect. I prefer there is no online because I want a game to have a world that is life-like, so if the developers did it right they wouldn't need online. So basically, if a shooter doesn't have online I'm not going to buy it, with the ONE exception of Far Cry 2.

I have never been big into online gaming. Yes, it is fun every once in awhile, but online play is the last thing I look at when purchasing a game.

To me, gaming is about the personal experience..separating yourself from the "real world" for a few hours, and that just doesn't really seem to happen with online gaming.

However, that isn't to say that that I don't enjoy a good Left 4 Dead match. :)

It seems like most developers over look the single-player now days. I mean back then SP is all you had and it was great. Don't get me wrong online is great but maybe if COD4 didn't have online they would have worked harder on a better story instead of falling back on MP.

Well that depends on what type of game it is. But most of the time i only care about the singleplayer in a game and just see the multiplayer as a plus.

I'm going to say this as nicely as possible: A "gamer" whom buys a game for the sole purpose of playing the online is not a gamer. Seriously, that's like saying "Let's ignore what made people like the game in the first place, and head on into what makes it JUST LIKE EVERY OTHER game on the market!"

I don't play online that much. One reason is that I don't play one game long enough to get even remotely good at it (and when I'm lacking talent in the first place), going online just to respawn at various strategic locations on a map nobody plays anymore because everyones on a new map from the fresh and totally different map pack experience offered to gamers world wide at the giveaway price of only 10 dollars, isn't any fun.

Most of the games I'd even consider playing online are populated by muppets, and people who can spend 27 hours a day playing.

I don't consider it fun, unless I'm messing around with friends in a private room. ;/

I love a lot of single player games. I sometimes rather play single player than multiplayer.

Demon's Souls (although you can play with someone), Valkyria Chronicles, Tales of Vesperia, Mass Effect 2, Assassin's Creed 2, Jet Set Radio Future, Brave Fencer Musashi, LittleBigPlanet etc.

Games back then, didn't have online multiplayer and I enjoyed them so much. I'm sure a lot of people did too.
