what are your thoughts on scaling enemies?

The game that comes to mind first and also probably a lot of others is oblivion, yes oblivion has scaling enemies, and yes I don't like scaling mostly because why level up if the enemies are going to be at the same level as as you level up? with that said in RPG's you basiclly level up to be able to beat everyone one else. I don't get it, that takes the reason of leveling up away.

Yeah, I've never liked the concept. It is annoying and doesn't make you feel that rewarded for gaining a new ability or getting talent points.

I agree, I always enjoyed games like Pokemon because as your pokes got stronger, you were able to get a leg up on everybody. But like as you said, in Oblivion, you always have to be on top of your game at all times, and constantly making sure you're going to be able to beat someone. It actually starts to take some of the pre-emptive strategy out of the game.
