Ok so if it was a perfect world I would get the PS3 like I wanted to, but all my friends have Xbox 360s. If I want to kill Nazi Zombies with my peeps I need me an Xbox. I’ve been playing mostly 64 bit cartridge consoles, so I need a little help here. I know nothing about this machine. How does it get online? What do I need to get online? How to get “downloadable content” (Not to entirely sure what that is)? I’ve played an Xbox 360 two or three times. I dig it for the most part, but when I get exited about going to my friends place and hitting it up, it’s broken (again). Still I shopped around and there are just to many options to just buy one up. I’d appreciate the help. Thanks gamers.

*info* It gets online through the use of either en ethernet cord or through the Wireless Xbox 360 adapters but the adapter is going to run you $90 or so. You will also need an Xbox Live subscription which costs about $4/month. (BTW, all prices are in Canadian dollars). Downloadable content, or DLC, is a feature given to you when you sign up for Xbox Live. All it is is an addition and/or a patch that is released through the Xbox Live marketplace, Xbox's online store. Usually the DLC costs 'Microsoft points' which are purchased online or in a store. If Im not mistaken, 1600 points=$20. games Left 4 Dead* Gears of War* Gears of War 2* Crackdown Earth Defense Force: 2017 Fable 2* Lost Planet Halo 3* The Elder Scrolls IV:Oblivion* Call of Duty 4* Fallout 3 Mass Effect* Bioshock* The Orange Box Grand Theft Auto IV Resident Evil 5 Modern Warfare 2* (Released in November of this year) Bioshock 2 (not yet released) *=Must Owns I would highly recommend purchasing anything above the Arcade versions. That means the Pro or the Elite. The Arcade doesn't include a hard drive which is a major flaw. You really need a hard drive. Also I would pick up a Play and Charge kit since you will chew through batteries like crazy and it will cost you quite a lot of money. Just a quick question, do you own a PS3? Because the games I mentioned are Xbox 360 exclusives, excluding Oblivion. If you don't own a PS3 I'll list some more games. Edited by dpower12, Mar 31 2009, 02:37 PM.

Thanks for the reply. I do not own a PS3. What exactly goes on the hard drive? I was looking at a pro, but I really tend to stick to one game for a long time. If there is new levels/missions for a game I would most likley buy the content. I don't know if the DLC stuff goes on the hard drive. |

The hard drive stores all your saved files, downloads, and your profile. Everything is saved on onto it so you can access the information when you load up the console. So yes, the DLC goes onto the Hard Drive. So if you get a checkpoint at a certain part in a game, it will save it so the next time you load up the game you can play right where you left off. The Pro is a very good way to go. LMK if you have anymore questions. I changed the games. I put the AAA titles that will get you the most bang for your buck. There are plenty more great titles but these are the ones you really need to look into buying first. Edited by dpower12, Mar 31 2009, 02:38 PM.

One Year Older

I think that one thing worth mentioning is that the newest motherboard revision of the Xbox 360, known as "Jasper", is only present in Arcade and the new special edition Red Resident Evil 5 Elite models at the moment. This is because it is brand new and the Arcade model is the best selling SKU, so they've run out of the older models and have begun selling the newer ones. If you buy a Pro or regular Elite today, chances are you'll get a "Falcon", which is the older version of the hardware. In case you're wondering, this new hardware revision is supposed to greatly reduce the hardware failure rate, and I can ascertain that it is much cooler and quieter than previous models. IMO, the 360 is only good IF you are sure you're getting online. I would recommend getting an Elite since the hard drive is larger and it might come in handy latter down the road |

Arcade's are a bad idea, seeing as most stores are doing promotions where a 60 gig XBOX is 269.99, and the arcade is 199. Take into account that you need a hard drive with the arcade, those typically go for 100, or more, so you've already spent more, got a lesser value console, didn't get the live trial, didn't get the headset and a couple other things. I'd go for the 60 gig, seeing as if you can't afford a PS3, you can't afford an elite. Edited by HybridPhoenix, Apr 16 2009, 10:13 PM.

Yeah, buying the Arcade and everything else separately does work out to be more expensive, but for some this cost is justified by the benefits of "Jasper". It probably works out best for previous 360 owners whose console have died, but still have the HDD, headset and controller/s from their previous console. |

Thanks everyone. I want to get online, but I'll only play older games if I get one, so no one would be on to play with me. As of now the Xbox has nothing to offer me. I've looked into it hundreds of times and I was ready to be sold on the idea, but I can't do it. Sorry. |

I agree with JWiss for the same reason. I would get a arcade system for the Jasper chip set and then just buy the HDD. The Jasper chip set is 45nm die so will run cooler and this should stop the red rings of death or at least give your system more life. I will cost a tad more this way but getting the red rings are no fun at all. |

But I also know a lot of people that enjoy it too. It's your call. |
