Being a fan of the PS2 I was always thinking about when Sony would drop the console all together. I think that eventually they will drop it at the end of 2009 or the start of 10. However like the Dreamcast and Genesis, their might be some third party developers trying to keep games available for the console. |

Believe it or not, there are still sports games being made for the ps2 console and its already 2012. Its on its last knees but its still slightly surviving. (yes I know, I'm responding to a 3 year old topic) |

No console in video game history will ever die, but we're talking when will games stop being made for the ps2. Apparently sports games are still being produced for the console. |

While there are mostly sports games still being released for the PS2, I am still very happy that my favorite console of all-time is still going. It has lived past Sony's expectations. I see it biting the dust in 2013 or 2014. Still, what a great life for a great console. |

Major League Baseball 2K12 will be relased on March 6 2012, two days after the PS2's twelfth birthday To put it in perspective, the last game released for the PS1 was FIFA Football 2005, released on October 12, 2004, less than ten years after the PS1 was launched. The console itself was just over 10 years old when Sony discontinued it at the end of 2004. PS2 hasn't beaten the Atari 2600 yet, which was launched on October 14, 1977 and discontinued on January 1, 1992, giving it a lifespan of over 14 years. I remember back in 2007 the people who thought that the PS2 would end in 2008 or 2009. How wrong they were
