Seriously, this looks so unique. Kind of like Drawn To Life, in a way I guess, but way more advanced.

yeah it looks very original, im wondering how many words will the player be able to input I doubt that they made everything in existence for the game :)
For Sensation, for elation, for the time when I ascend.
AFI for ever.

This game looks really cool but I'm wondering if it would have a lasting appeal for adults, like myself.

This game does look really impressive, definate purchase for me.
I'm not usually religiously offended, but the demo that showed god shooting zythulu with a shot gun was a little much. I wouldn't be surprised if it got a T rating.

Right now the level design looks pretty poor, it's really just riding on the "Create anything" aspect, which is a bit gimmicky.

They aren't focusing on level design on this game at all. They are just trying to make a very unique and valuable game and I think they have succeeded because just look at how many words it can recognize. It can't get much better then that!

My opinions have totallly changed since my first post.
Scribblenauts seems like an amusing tech demo to me. A good platformer/puzzler needs good level design, and scribblenauts definately doesn't deliver in that aspect.

I see what you mean, I was thinking along the same lines, even though I'm still pretty amped about this game.

It doesn't seem very versatile or vast in the terms of the environment, so far I haven't seen anything that you really have to explore, or get from one point to another by platforms or other means, it's pretty much type in a word and watch what happens.

I think that this game is to serve as an example on what can be done and Incorporated into future DS titles, it lacks in other areas, but surpasses on what it does with the word you input, they each have their own little trait.

Though I'm going to reserve any final judgements until I see a bit more official gameplay and reviews, see if there is anything new.

I can see how that initial "Oh wow I typed Taco and that Dinosaur didn't eat me!" excitement can wear out and become boring if you're not doing anything else in the game.

This type of thing just can't be used in a ds game. I'm sure like 230/256 megabites is filled filled all the words, leaving the other 26 megs for levels.
It still does look interesting to play around with though. I won't be picking it up day one, but I'm intrigued.

The game is fun but the controls are horrible at least they could have made it a choice for us to use d pad or touch controls because the touch controls lower the game for me and makes it a less enjoyble experience

I'm still unsure, the game itself looks awesome but the controls are supposedly horrible and I've also heard that its just a draw something and see what happens type of game. If there are more pros than cons though I'm still considering it.

These aren't the droids we're looking for.

I'll end up getting it, possibly at the beginning of the year. If not then, then I'll probably wait until a price drop. Can't wait to hear your thoughts on the game, if you did end up buying it, Matt.

My Impressions of Scribblenauts
(this'll basically act like a review with no scores; early impressions and not a review by any means)

Presentation
I thought the tutorial could have been a bit more helpful, but otherwise it's a nicely presented game. The menus share the gameplay's great art style, but it's not exactly bursting with personality. Not much to complain about, not much to write home about.

Graphics
A cool cartoony style; it looks like a 3-year-old drew it with crayon, and it's nice and colorful. The scale and animation are laughably bad, animations come down to random arm wailing, and cars are almost as big as a houes, but I think that's intentional; it definatly adds charm.

Sound
The sound effects for each item are high quality, and the music is actually catchy and very fitting for the game. No complaints really; it could be better, but I can't really thing of anything negative in particular.

Gameplay
This game has a very unique concept(do i really have to explain?), and, for the most part, it works very well. Almost every noun you can thing of will appear; nothing vulgar, overly religious, not a physical object, copyrighted, etc. Even some proper nouns will appear, like Rick Roll. Each word can be interacted with in their own unique way, which brings up another problem; for most things this works great, but too many items don't act like you want them to, or act too similar to other things. Another problem is the controls, which I'm sure your all aware of. You tap the screen and your character moves there. You tap and drag an item to move it around, and, once your holding item, you double tap another object you would like to do something to with the item your holding. For example, let's say your holding a sword; if you double tap a dragon, you'll get another set of options, such as "throw," "drop," and "attack," and tapping one of these will make your character perform it. The problem is that everything is automated, giving you no precise control over anything. It's not a big problem in calm situations, but when your being attacked by something and you have to defend yourself, it can be extremly frustrating. Each objest in the game has their own physics engine, which is very impressive. Plus, you can ride many things that you conjure up, from jetpacks to rofl copters to horses to motorcycles. A cool feature is the ability to equip multiple items at a time; you can ride a horse, wearing armor and a helmet, wielding a sword, while fighting God on a skateboard and it can get very crazy.

Lasting appeal
If you end up enjoying the game I don't think you'll ever get tired of thinking up random scenarios.

Overall
The reason why I wrote this was because I was very skeptical about this game, and now, today, I picked it up and I'm enjoying it. I encourage everyone to pick it up; I can't garuntee you'll like it, but I'd say you have a 50/50 chance of either loving or hating it. Go for it; I'd reccommend it.

(edited to remove all the horrid typos. Sorry for the inconvinence)

I don't the controls can reasonably be considered game breaking; if you don't like it, it's probably a combination of the bad controls, the lack of depth, and the gimmickiness(all three subjective and not neccessarily my opinion). I wouln't worry to much about the controls.
I just wish Maxwell wouldn't go so freaking fast...

Yeah, if I wasn't saving for a 360, I'd probably already have it in my collection :P I know Nintendo Power gave it a 9/10, but I know a lot of people don't take them as seriously.

LOL, you try to move him one step and he's already on the other side of the screen. THAT'S frustrating!
