I have a mom who likes to take care of stuff, so when me and my sister got new systems (NES and SNES) she took good care of the games and then stored them away when we weren't touching them anymore. Then something happend in my life and I felt the need to get very broke very fast. And then I bought a lot of stuff online for two week period and ended up with some other old systems and games. I don't know if I'm still collecting, but I buy games for the 360 and PS3 and play them. I like old games and I like playing them, I think that was the rationale behind buying them in the first place. That and Mega Man ofcoruse. |

Hmm. I've had to think long and hard about why I collect, and the best I could come up with is: I wanna be the very best Like no one ever was To collect them is my real test. To 100% them, is my real cause. I will travel across the land Searching far and wide In thrift stores, and on online Some bargains I will fiiiiiiind.... RETROGAMES Gotta collect them all! |

I have always been a collector of various things growing up (mostly various trading card games). After collecting a variety of different things I decided to stick with gaming for the most part since I had already had a decent sized collection from my near 22 years of gaming. Also video games are interactive and can always be picked up and played again for an interactive experience years from now instead of just staring at a binder full of shiny cards or action figures etc... |

Zelda Collector

I collect Zelda stuff, because I have some great memories playing the very first game with my brother and a friend. It took us an entire summer vacation playing 4-5 hours a day to beat it. No guides, no internet cheats, just playing and playing and playing. I don't really collect games, but I do own a LOT of games because I like to game. Although I have been thinking about starting a SNES collection. Edited by xdarnokx, Apr 23 2010, 09:58 AM.

I am not a hardcore collector like many on this board; I don't have a specified game room, I don't collect memorabilia or plushies, and I unfortunately don't have any of the older systems (the PS2 is as retro as it gets for me). But I've been a lifelong gamer and I have amassed a large quantity of current generation games for the Xbox 360, PS3, and the Wii. I would eventually like to get back my old SNES, Genesis and NES systems and collector games for them, but only after I move into a bigger place. I have many friends who are hardcore gamers, but they prefer to mod their system and get pirated games. I am a collector in the sense that I like having a library of good titles I can pick up and play whenever I want, and I love how all my games look on the shelf, nearly sorted and alphabetized. I am the same way with CDs, DVDs and books. |

PS1/2 - DS RPG Collector

I collect because I love gaming. I was introduced to gaming way back in the 80s when there were those old Game and Watches. I got back into videogames when I moved to Canada. Over the years I kept buying, then selling them. I really regret that. Now I mostly look to collect and keep the PS1/PS2/DS rpgs that I find interesting. |

I mainly collect for the DS because the games are cheap and most of the time, I like them, even if at first it looks like something I'm not going to like. For some reason being on the DS just makes it seem better somehow. Every other system I just buy occasionally. |

Ds Games!

I'm starting to wonder if this appletsauce is someone that's been spying on me. I collect for the ds as well, for the reasons that the games are cheap, and the game library is varied. I like all the different genres, especially the ones you really only see on the ds. You can go from solving cases as phoenix wright, to playing a final fantasy game from like 20 years ago that was never released here, to playing a regular mario platformer, and then yo playing an old school dungeon crawler like the dark spire. You can't do something like that many other places. Plus I'm able to play games while I'm not home, or while I'm home but don't want to be sitting at the tv. |

I collect for a variety of reasons. I guess the main reason is that gaming has always been my favorite hobby, but unfortunately I haven't really put that much time into it lately. The duties of being a hard working and dedicated take priority first. I have a tremendous backlog of games, but when I retire I will take the time to finally complete all the games I own. Due to how hard I've been working over the last three years, I've used this time to collect games I've always wanted to own. There was a period of time between the snes and the ps1 in which I didn't play any games, and I missed out on a whole ton of great games especially for turbo-grafx 16, sega cd, and sega saturn. I've discovered early into university that my passions for gaming was anime style games regardless if they were rpg's, fighting games and what not. So with my collection I'm only interested in collecting every North American release of any anime style game from any major system. I will stop after this generation of gaming, and will only collect titles that are interesting. Currently at this moment, I'm only 11 games away from finishing my domestic anime style sega saturn collection. Eventually when I die, because we're all going to die sometime. My collection will be sold and the money will be used to look after the people that are important to me. |
