If you havent got the red ring of death yet you are lucky cause a new survey published stated the increse of the RROD. here are a few findings
Console failure rate

Xbox 360 – 54.2%
Playstation 3 – 10.6%
Wii – 6.8%

Percentage of console owners who suffered a second hardware failure after the original repair.

Xbox 360 – 41.2%
Playstation 3 – 14.7%
Wii – 11%

Percentage of people who rate their customer service experience "very helpful"

Nintendo – 56.1%
Sony – 51.1%
Microsoft – 37.7%

Percentage of respondents whose friends have had console hardware failures.

Xbox 360 – 69.9%
Playstation 3 – 12.4%
Wii – 6%

The publisher also said why the wii has a low % rate is because most wii owners only play for an hour whilst the xbox 360 and PS3 owners play for 5 hours a day on a regular basis.

The great thing about the 360 isn't beating the games. It's showing everyone online that I did

That's interesting.

My cousin got his 360 the same christmas I got my PS3. It scratched Dead Rising on Christmas, sent it off, happened again. They in the end returned the Xbox, got him a PS3 and haven't had any problems.

But everyone I know who has bought an Xbox has experienced a failiure rate, but I was told that the problems were fixed with the Elite, was I missinformed?

As long as they fix it for free, I have no problem with it.

Seems very accurate. I dont know anyone who hasent had a problem with their 360 and I only know one person whos had a problem with their PS3 but it is only freezing on him every now and then, and never heard a problem about the Wii.

In all honesty I would say that the Fail rate of the system is even greater than 45%. Microsoft will never admit or make public what the true numbers are. Do the math yourself from people you know. Out of everyone that I know all of them has had to send off there 360 at least once some of them has had to send it back 3 times. So in my experience it has a 100% fail rate. I know this inst a true number but I wounder what everyone else has experienced with people they know and what there personal fail rate would be?

Yeah, who cares. As if those "fail rate" will make Xbox users switch to PS3 or Wii. And like I said, whats wrong with it if they're fixing it for free? Sony and Nintendo don't fix broken consoles.

These aren't the droids we're looking for.

The only technical issues I've heard about with the Wii was a small number of them being bricked because of one of the early updates, and the issue with contaminated lenses not letting the system read certain games. Nintendo replaced the bricked systems, and repaired the lens problem for free.

I can't think of anything else for the Wii.

Reliability is one of the worst things about this generation. Like I said in another thread, everything's delicate little daisies this gen, whereas older systems were brute cave dwellers :P

Yeah, it's really funny that newer systems tend to have shorter lifespans. While consoles like the NES and PS1 would still work after 15 years.

I for one do care because I am a collector. Right now it don't matter because you can have your console fixed for free but what are you going to do say 5 years from now when Microsoft don't fix them anymore? I am sure the next Microsoft system will have backward compatibility of some sort but if its emulated like it is on the 360 it will never be as good as playing it on true hardware. I love my 360 and play it a lot but Microsoft needs to fix this problem 100% because its been almost 4 years now and the systems are still doing this.

I do plan on buying a backup system near the end of the 360s life span just to have in case mine does crap out on me again.

SONY and Nintendo do fix consoles. But yeah sure they fix it for free. But what do I do when they stop support for the 360 and it breaks? Waste of 300 dollars in my opinion.

But why pay $300 for a console that will break in a few years time just for a few games, when you can buy a console that has just as many/good if not more/better exclusives and will last 3 times longer?

Microsoft don't charge to fix your console unless you voided it's warranty. And I'm sure that by the time Microsoft stops fixing the Xbox, they'd have a new console. Why would I buy a console that lacks games in genres like RPGs? Why would I pay $300 for a console that breaks, you ask, because it's worth it. Aside from a few good exclusives, the 360 and PS3 basically has the same games, so another question is why would I pay 400-500 bucks if I can get the same experience with 300 bucks? And don't tell me because I know damn well that the PS3 just had a price drop, but for what cost? A slim version with no backwards compatibilty, another question raised by that is, why buy a PS3 if you can get the same experience and probably more mind blowing games on the 200 bucks cheaper PlayStation 2?

Blu-ray, web browser, amazing games, free PSN, great online store, built in Wi-fi. thats why I would. Bassicaly your saying the SNES has amazing games so why go out and buy a 64? You say 400 bucks for PS3? Xbox elite 300, Wi-fi connecter 100, Xbox live 50= 450.

Experience the same games? So youre saying that Uncharted can be done on the PS2? No, you cant experiecne the same games and have the same experience on the PS2. Look at all the features the PS3 comes with that Shaq Attack pointed out. With the PS3 you get a main home theater centerpiece, most things you need are on the PS3, including outstanding games, better than the 360s games in MY opinion.

The only problem I've had with my Wii is once I turned on the console and it wouldnt read Wii Sports, but all I had to do was turn the system on and off and before I got the first Wii update (launch model) sometimes on the Wii menu, it would say that my saves were corrupted, but once I turn the system on and off it was cool. And when I updated my Wii, I haven't had thos problems since.

I want a GAME CONSOLE not a home theatre centepiece and I can do all those things BETTER without ever touching a PS3. And for me, those features are nowhere remarkable, Blu Ray is nothing because you still have to install the big games into the HD, the 360 can do that as well. Why would I use it's terrible web browser if my computer can do it better. And from my experience, the free PSN is terrible, so paying for your Xbox live is really worth it. The 360 has many flaws, that's the fact, but as long as those flaws can be fixed, I'm sticking with it. In MY opinion, all these new stuff on the PS3 is overrated, because all those features too, has flaws.

How can you say PSN is terrible if you don't have a PS3? Yes it's a game console and can do much more. PS3 exclusives are just amazing to say the least. The ps3 webrowser is great if i'm in a chat and my friend and I are arguing aout something, I just bring up the browser without having to start up my computer.

Added the PS3 and Xbox 360 are about the same price, but the PS3 has more features, and better exclusives. But I mean if cross game chat and party chat are that amazing then well I guess you should get a 360.

Dude, you're coming accross as a fanboy. Saying PSN is terrible, without even owning a PS3 is just dumb. PSN is the SAME as Xbox LIVE and it will become even BETTER plus it's free. Yeah it's a centerpiece for an entertainment center, and that includes a gaming console as well as many other things. The web browser is useful because say your computer is down, what are you going to do? Hop on your PS3 and go on any site you want to. Blu-Ray is enccessary for a gaming console because you need that kind of space for large games. The 360 can't handle LARGE games without having multiple discs. Square Enix is TRYING to fix FF13 on only 3 DISCS, while the PS3 is on 1 disc, and with all that compression it won't look as good because it will all be compressed, which is why Blu-Ray movies look better than DVDs, no compressed images. And most games on the PS3 don't even require a game install, an installs only cut down on loading times because it doesn't have to read it from the disc, it's already in the system. Most flaws on the 360 can be fixed, yes you are correct, but will they be fixed? NO. Microsoft won't do a damn thing about them while Sony tries to improve constantly. And which flaws are you talking about in the new features for the PS3? I honestly don't see any flaws with the dynamic backgrounds, better organised XMB, the little ticker in the top right hand of the screen is going to be very usefull to see if you have any messages, and the friends list is getting a revamp, I don't see any flaws in those. I'm not bashing the 360, in fact I like the 360, but trying to compare the 2 without OWNING the 2 consoles is impossible.
