I usually refer to it as pop, but if I'm seeking out a particular kind, I'll refer to it by its type, so I'll call it ginger ale, root beer or orange. The exception to this is cola, which I'll refer to as Coke or Pepsi, or lemon lime soda, which I always refer to as Sprite.

Now it's Soda and it's the same for my children unless they call it by whatever retail name it is. And Majinpowers, what part of NC?

Big Red soda + 4 oz purp=Drank. I'm not into that, but i thought i'd add some specific regional slang to the forum :-)
