Ico is a game you'd either love or hate. Personally, I don't like it one bit. All you do is run, pull levers, run, look for a way out, run, pull levers. |

The setting and genre is different, pushing key features that Zelda didn't stress enough. The art direction is above and beyond, where the visuals reciprocate. Even with all the next gen polish Ico had, gameplay is simple and roots back to the games a decade back. |

I've not played Ico but i have played shadow of the colossus. It's by the same people. If they put in the same attention to detail in Ico that they did with SotC then i reckon it MUST be worth a play. |

It's a very stylized artistic unconventional approach to a game. As stated you either adore it or dislike it. It steers away from all the norms, or basis you expect to be part of a video game, it shares some elements but the story unfolds in a different way. Health isn't really represented, it's very lush in environment and creates a mood from it. Graphics still hold up to this day, I personally love it, it drew me in because it was not like it that I had ever played up until that point, it was a new idea to protect this princess and guide her around and make sure the shadows don't eat her up. I think everyone should at least PLAY it once, though it's super hard to find and so damn expensive. I wish I still had my copy that my brother sold. |
