I know about the 4.5mm screw bits for genesis cart security screws. I plan to buy some off ebay. The guy said they come with some batteries to. I just bought some old RPGs and may need them. Hope not but if I do I want to be able to get my games working if my local gameshop wont.

I want to know what bit or screw driver can I use to open EA cartridges that have the odd shaped screws with the diagonally facing slots. If you all have seen Madden or Starflight on the genesis you may know what Im talking about. I hope you do. Does anyone know where I can get a bit to use on these special screws?

I believe the guy said theres many different bits he has. I will ask him. My local game shop might even sell them.

Also I know of a place that replaces batteries in older cartridges, but you have to mail your games to them. Its $7.50 a piece.

Wow pricey!

You know i never knew EA had thier own funky little screws, never needed to open one up. im sure there must be a bit that fits with some of those changeable bit screwdrivers. in all fairness i've never seen them before so not too sure, sorry.

Sega Does What Nintendon't

I got a kit to be able to open all Nintendo stuff and Genesis as well but it never came with a bit for the EA games so I have to clean them the old school way with Q-tips.

No clue what bit you need for these carts but if you find one post back and let us know your findings because I would like to get one myself.

My internet was down all day monday. I just bought a 4.5mm game bit on ebay. I also bought a replacement copy of Sword of vermillion and my new genesis. Hopefully they guy ships it quickly. But it looks like hesplaying it cheap and not using priority mail. Thats what the other guy used. I would hav chosen priority but he didnt have it as an option and I didnt want to get reamed for it.

I just bought 10 CR2032 Batteries with the metal connecting pins on ebay. They appear to be of chinese origin. They have chinese symbols? Words? Writing? whatever on them. Im hoping they will work. All the replacement batteries that people were selling specifically for Nes, Genesis and SNES didnt seem to specify a brand. If they dont work I will just un-solder them and get some better ones. That is if I have to use them. It was 10 batteries for $3.

Also @ Majinpowers, Thanks and I hope it does to. Its a model 2 and comes with the AC adapter and AV cables.

Also I heard some people talking about different versions of the model 2 genesis? I didnt know there were so many different versions of each.

I just found an answer to my own question. I said I wold post anything I found out. Well here it is, Those wierd EA screws are called Holt screws. They are security screws. Where to get a driver or bit for them, I have no idea. Maybe a hardware store. Look at this chart, its right there. Im very happy now.

This sucks. I used my gamebit this morning to open my broken copy of sword of vermillion and it turns out it was the battery, but my game bit stripped a little. Cheap piece of crap. I will see if I can get a real one from a hardware store. By real I mean better.
