What I mean by this is that do you think that people are so shallow with music that they will only listen to something if they find the members of the band/group/singer to be sexually attractive? I've seen so many people where they base their whole argument on why they don't like a band down to "they are ugly!" I mean being a straight guy and all, I listen to a few bands with some girl members and I don't find them that attractive, but it doesn't stop the music from being awesome. I love Smashing Pumpkins but I don't think D'arcy who is their original bass player to be that attractive. For example, one of my friends thinks that Tommy Lee is hot, she doesn't claim to be a fan of his band, Motley Crue (while I am a massive fan of). So I showed her a picture of them in their full on early 1980's glam days with make up, leather, massive heels and when Tommy had hair all down his back, her first reaction was "Ew! I'm over him now. He's so ugly! How can you listen to them! They aren't even hot!" Whatever country you're in, if you look at your Idol show, most of the time when they interview people, you always get the ones who are all like "this singer is average at singing but they should win because they are the most attractive!" I just hate it so much. So many artists out there are only signed because of their image when they have barely any talent (Sid Vicious only got into the Sex Pistols because of his image when it was obvious he couldn't play bass). And I know my problem is mostly with teenage girls, but it just annoys me so much. If I hear one more time that Bullet For My Valentine or Paramore are better than Aerosmith, Motley Crue, Alice Cooper, KISS, Rolling Stones or The Beatles etc because "Matt Tuck/Hayley Williams are hot." I think I'm going to scream! |
