On average about 1 out of every 5 times I change my DS Lite's game card it won't show up on the main menu, causing me to have to eject and re-insert the game card over and over and struggle to get it to play on the system, sometimes taking over a minute of messing around before I can even make it to the title screen. Even worse, this typically happens when I'm at school or on the train or in some situation where I'm directly next to or nearby someone playing a game on their iPhone or iPod Touch, and I get the feeling like I'm the PC guy in those Mac vs. PC commercials getting shown up for being intrinsically inferior. I've had this problem fairly frequently since I got my DS Lite on launch day in 06 and even returned it to Nintendo only to have similar problems on my second system. Also, is the Nintendo DSi any better about this sort of thing? |

The DSi is probably a bit better with something like this but nobody has really proved it. With my DSi, when it says the catridge isn't inserted, I just wiggle the cartridge in place while it's in the menu and it ussually comes up(this is because the DSi can hot swap cartridges). I guess this ussualy happens because the prongs on the game and the system are alligned improperly or something. I know this may sound pretty obvious, but you have just tried blowing in the cartridge slot, right? And it may just be for certain games; my old Henry Hatsworth cartridge did this constantly, at times in-game. I'd say plan on getting a DSi unless you really don't want one; sure, you may go through the same thing, but you'd have a DSi. And the thing about PC vs. Mac is pretty funny; those commercials are so... douchebaggy? |

These aren't the droids we're looking for.

I've only had this problem once, and that was the first time I put New Super Mario Bros. in, about a month after I got my DS Lite. Worked perfectly ever since. By the way, I'm a PC

Hey I'm a PC too, well, at least for now until I have the money to join the Mac side. Anyway, your problem is either of two things, 1). It's pirated. 2). The cart or the slot is dirty. I've had it once on my DSi when I was playing Magical Starsign and all I had to do is put a little alcohol on a Q-Tip and gently clean the cartridge (Ala NES cart). |

Unless my entire collections DS games that I've purchased all brand new from Gamestop, Best Buy, and Nintendo World all turned out to somehow be extremely elaborate counterfeits complete with working registration codes, I doubt that's the problem. ![]() Anyway, I'll try the ackyhall and q tips remedy, thanks. I plan to get a DSi eventually anyway. |

The great thing about the 360 isn't beating the games. It's showing everyone online that I did

I have had this problem a few times, but only with Animal Crossing: Wild World. So, it is the game, not the DS. |
