Model 1 Sega CD issue

When I load any disc into my Sega CD, the disc goes in, two seconds..., and then it pops back out. It doesn't even attempt to read it or anything. I took it apart and fiddled with it, trying to mess with the gears and stuff and still no luck. Loading a game with the top of the Sega CD off, I noticed that the tray goes in fine, the assembly picks the game up, but the game doesn't even spin or anything.

I had a similar issue with my X'EYE but I cleaned the lens and it worked fine. Should I just try cleaning the sega cd's lens? I already did once but maybe another time or two can't hurt? Any other issues with the gears and stuff that could be causing it?

Sega Does What Nintendon't

I don't have a model 1 myself but the tray is the number one thing that seems to mess up on them. I would try checking the big black gear that triggers the opening and closing of the tray to see if it is out of alignment. MN12BIRD did a video on his model one where he fixed the tray it might help or at least give you some ideas.

Here is a link to his video on the black gear that controls the tray.

I did open it up and mess with the gears as well as cleaning the lens again and now it works fine! I don't know which helped more but it's working great!
