I used to use a webcam but that didnt give off very good sound quality so more recently I have been using my Nokia N95 8GB camera which is way better.

A Flip UltraHD camera with a mini tripod. The video quality is pretty decent for a lower end camera. The only issue is that it doesn't focus very well close-up, and the software it comes with has limited editing options.

I have an Easycap capture device for my reviews and use windows movie maker to edit those together. Those are a lot of fun but very time consuming.

Sony Handy Cam
It gets the job done, with fairly good video quality.

I was looking into what DinkyDana suggested and uses, the Kodak Zi8. I actually was considering the Zi6 though since its cheaper and does 720p and still has the memory stick slot.

If I'll be showing myself, I'll just simply use the webcam on my Macbook Pro. Since showing myself is not a regular thing I'll be doing in my vids, I don't expect to change that setup.

For video game footage, I've decided to stick with emulation. The reason for that is I need the easiest way possible to create my videos and it must be portable. I don't have the most amount of free time, so it's important I can work on the vids whenever I am.

I started using Camtasia to capture the gameplay footage, but ran in to a problem where it always wants to display the cursor on top. This causes issues with Intellivision emulation with Mess, so I'll be moving to Snaps Pro X for future videos.

For editing, I'm using iMovie. I was actually planning to use Final Cut Pro (yes, I own a license for it), but the simple nature of my videos makes iMovie more efficient for me.

I'm not sure myself what company made my camcorder. It only does 480p and needs lots of lighting but the sound quality is amazing for this lower end machine so I use it for all my videos.

For letsplay videos, for non HD videos I use dazzle capture card. Works great with PS1 games. Some PS2 games are alright with it too.

For pickup videos I use my playstation eye. The quality is not that bad.

For HD gaming videos I would use happauge hd pvr. I still need to get this capture card for some HD letsplay videos lol.

Gamer. Graphic Designer. Geek.

I've recorded with a Flip Ultra (non-HD), Logitech C500 webcam(simulated HD), Kodak Zi6(HD), Canon Powershot Elph(HD), and Canon Vixia HF R10(HD, and current cam).

The Flip and the webcam were the easiest, and the Vixia is the best quality by far. The Elph had an irritating noise when you record, but had great picture quality, and is very small and makes a great digital camera.

I've edited in Premier Pro CS4, After Effects CS4, and Premiere Elements 8, with some photowork in Photoshop 7, CS4, and elements 8.

I've catptured video with an Easycap, Dazzle DVD Recorder, and Hauppauge HVR 900Q... The easycap was too frustrating to use, and with a lot of tweaking, I was able to get great quality out of both the Dazzle, and the HVR, of which the Dazzle was much easier to work with.

If i decide to do much more video capture, I'll probably check out that AverMedia card that people are talking about that does HD... If I had known about that prior to getting my Dazzle, I'd be capping on it instead of the SD cards...

I got the Kodac Zi8. I redid my HTPC and it's sporting a water cooled quad-core ( Phenom II X4 @ 2.6ghz with a Corsair H50 water cooling kit that runs dead silent ).

I did a test cap last night with the Hauppauge PVR-250 I've had for about 5 or so years. Used BeyondTV for the capture and it was frustrating to actually cap of S-Video since it is a TV tuner card.

So I :edit: just bought a Dazzle, cancelled my PVR HD order due to newegg having the old revision and wanting the newer, cooler running 2010 model that is on backorder. Fuck it, I got sick of the cables. I tinkered with Vegas 9 PRO tonight and its pretty nice. I use Windows 7 on this PC.

I use a Kodak Zi8 - brilliant quality, audio is pretty good (you can also add an external mic if you really need to). You can film in HD with it too :-)
I think it's a great great camera.
I also took it to an AFI gig recently and the audio was actually pretty high quality.
