I'll probably pick this up on PS3 eventually, but I think I should get Mario Kart Wii first, lol.

I downloaded the demo on a whim since I really enjoy cart racers, and I had so much fun with it, I played the crap out of the demo, however I find it really hard to pass the other racers, I always end up at 6th or in last place!
I don't remember being that bad, since in mario kart I always managed to come in 1st against the computer without taking advantage of the drifting.
Any tips?
I find drifting hard to pull off really, I think it's awkward how my Racer is slanting in whichever direction I am drifting and still trying to have enough control to push forward before I let go so I can get a boost.

I'm loving the colorful graphics, and the tracks I have seen online look pretty damn fun, I'm just worried I'm not going to be able to beat the darn computer!

I may pick it up today regardless, because it's a great party game to have splitscreen races when I go to my buddies.

At first I kept losing in the demo as well but I mastered drifting and I'm able to get first even on Expert. I try to hold my drift as long as possible and even when I'm past the corner, I still drift until I'm getting close to the wall then I let go and then I drift again. I don't know if the stage is different on the 360 version but the stage on the demo for the PS3 is Rampart Road (i think that's what it's called) and I'm able to drift almost every corner. Plus when you jump pull the Trick/Drift button at the right time and when you land you'll do a turbo boost too. You're also able to shoot missiles and other items behind you when you flick your stick backwards and push the item button, I do that often to make sure I stay in front of people. Or when I get a 3x power I usually just hold the button down so it will shoot all three items at once. I didn't really start winning until I found the shortcut on the stage then I kept taking the shortcut but now I'm able to do the stage without the shortcut too and win.

Bought it today and it is super fun from what I have played, I've only really gone into two tracks while I'm trying to better master the drift method and see what works the best for me, at least I'm starting to come in third and 4th instead of dead last. :D

Really reminds me of that Mario Kart feel, but the tracks as Pete mentioned have that colorful appealing element and detail to you, that some Mario tracks fail to deliver in. So far as them borrowing successful elements from Mario Kart it is working for them, it's really fun, and great collecting "miles" and purchasing tracks, characters and music from the shop.

Lots to do!

I Like Games.

For those having trouble with the demo, it defaults to "Advanced" AI racers, bump it down to easy and you should be good. The AI in the game is relentlessly cheap so dont feel bad if you get owned constantly, me I avoid single player and go straight online.

I'm very close to my gold sega liscense (means I have 750,000 sega miles) and have been playing the crap outa online mode. We should get a game going sometime with a few of us here playing together, play with Catch-up on so it is fair for newer players.

Got to play just a bit today with Pete and others, first time online, I've been having some problems with my connection on my Xbox lately. Really darn fun game.

Like Pete said, the PC riders tend to be cheap.

I find that unlike other Kart games, Sonic really relies on drift boosting in order to secure your spot from being dead last. I'm still trying to get the hang of it. Like I mentioned in Mario Kart I could easily pass up the PC even on a harder setting and never have to use drift boosting. In Sonic it's pretty much needed!

The courses are really fun, I'm surprised at how well this game turned out to be.

I think I am, therefore I am. I think.
Hmmm, I might just have to try this out on the 360. I'll probably wait a bit for the price to drop...

Just started playing online today, it's really fun. I think it's the most fun I had on an online game in a while because it's not a shooting game that I take serious all the time, it's something I can just laugh about and play.

Maybe it's just me but I'm having a hell of a time finding the 360 version of this game. I finally saw it at a Bestbuy but it took be a couple weeks of looking so maybe this weekend I'll pick it up.

I had the same problem, couldn't find it at Walmart, Target, or K-Mart or even one of the GameStops that I looked at. Then I finally found it at a different GameStop :P

I'm playing it right now and LOVING it. Mainly have just been playing online because its fun and lag free. It plays just like Mario Kart which is ....not a bad thing lol. It looks amazing and the track designs are so full of color and life, so much better designed than Mario Kart Wii's tracks IMO. Control wise it depends by what character you choose but the drifting is very similar to Marios and it feels just right. Overall its totally worth the $50, if anyone gets it let me know maybe we can play online sometime.
im getting it purely beacuse it has alex kidd in it.. ill def give you a race pete

Metal Sonic has now been added to the playable characters list. Metal Sonic comes with a new track called "Death Egg". It's currently only available on the Xbox 360 but PS3 gamers will be able to buy it before the end of the month.

Oh nice, a metal sonic? I'm going to take a look, if the DLC is a little to absurd in price than I will pass, since even if I go online it's not guaranteed
that who I race against will have downloaded that so I can't use the track.

These aren't the droids we're looking for.

Sorry about bumping an old topic, but I didn't want to start a new one :P

I bought the game last week (for the 360) and I'm really, really enjoying it. I've beaten all of the Grand Prix thingies, and about 30 of the mission thingies since I started playing it a few days ago, and I'm up to about 170k Sega Miles. Haven't touched the online yet. I'm loving the whole drifting aspect xD

One thing I'm not particularly fond of are the collecting missions, where you have to get as many rings as possible. I don't know, they're just annoying, haha.

All in all, it's a really great game. Also, it has Banjo and Kazooie, so hell yeah! Anyone else played since... April? xD

I play it periodically, since it's an easy racer to just pick up and enjoy when you're in the mood. There is still a good online community and I van usually find a race at any time of the day or night.

I think I bought my copy back in December for the PS3. The online racing is pretty fun I completed about 17 missions I guess and I unlocked all the characters except for Big The Cat cause I just never felt like I needed him that much and I was busy buying everyone else  So basically if you like the Mario Kart series you should like this.
