...well ok then, back to the PSthrii-mote: As mentioned above, I'm just not a fan of jumping around like an idiot in front of my TV. If I want to play video games, I like to sit down and enjoy them, instead of waving that thing in front of my TV, spending 5 minutes to get used to the sensor's.
Maybe they'll improve on the wii-mote a little; usually the remote doesn't even have to be pointed at the TV, it seems like shaking it around does only one thing: why not just have a button then?

My point being: The Game should be fun on it's own, we don't need gimmicks and accessories to make the otherwise bland game at least interesting...

I mean, we all know what happens when nintendo starts going crazy with their accessories... Posted Image
Actually very few Wii games, even those that use the motion sensor and pointer extensively, actually involve getting up and hopping around miming game actions while playing.

Having the controllers in two hands actually lets you play in a more lazy style sometimes. :P
yeah, but they always seem to use at least one event to shove the motion capabilities in your face. Twilight Princess for example: Why do I need to shake the remote when Link swings in pre-determined patterns anyway? Why not just have a button?!

Maybe I'm getting old...
lol maybe

I personally am not a fan of the whole motion control thing. AS long as games like Resistance 3, killzone 3, Infamous 2, Socom 4 etc arent exclusive to move controls i am cool, I dont mind if they have motion controls at all, i just want to use my dualshock 3

I gotta' agree with you there...
Sure the lack of 'gimmicks' didn't fair very well with nintendo in the past, but making a console almost completely based on being 'different' is not a very good idea either.

I think if they can do a well enough job some games will benefit greatly from it, boxing would be hella fun, same with swordfighting (Red Steel 2 anyone?). Imagine all of those Wii games you loved but with amazing graphics (again, Red Steel 2?).

Twilight Princess is one of those games I often played "lazy style" as a i described with both halves of the controller at my sides except when shooting arrows or the like.

I embraced the novelty of the waggle sword swinging, but appreciate how the only real utility it has is in freeing up the limited buttons on the Wii Remote by subbing in for a button press.

1:1 Motion Plus style control is what the Wii Remote should have been from the start, as far as I'm concerned what we're seeing this fall with the new Motion Plus Zelda and the PS Move and Xbox Natal, 2010 is the REAL year of the motion revolution.

Wouldn't all three current consoles be beyond your scope then?

Also, I reject the notion that motion control or anything other than a two handed traditional game pad is inherently gimmicky. The joystick itself was a gimmick long ago, as was force feedback.

It looks great IMO, I saw the tech demos and a few seminars about the device on youtube and was very impressed then. They could have been a bit more inventive with the name though, will it sink or swim ? Only time will tell but I'm fairly confident in it this far.

I still think they should call it the PSthrii-mote.
At least that would be honest =/

I think that motion control was a novelty when Nintendo tried it, failing first with the Power Glove and then succeeding many years later, but it will be harder to impress the hardcore gamers on the PS3 and the 360. If it works well and complements the gameplay as opposed to dominating it, I think it will be a good thing. I never liked the games that are only notable for the motion control and little else.

Thank you! My opinion exactly...

side note: am I the only one that actually thought the power glove was pretty cool?

It was a cool idea, it just didn't work as cool as the advertising and the imagination would have suggested.

Also, I wish people would stop blaming the Power Glove on Nintendo, Nintendo didn't design or support the Power Glove, it was Mattel's product entirely, if anything they just paid Nintendo to be able to market it as an officially endorsed product.

alright I don't mean to be an ass, but here goes:
1. That looks pretty amazing and fun... for about 5 minutes
2. I HIGHLY doubt it's going to be that responsive and fluent in a game.
3. These things look like marakas... why?!
4. Taking the pretty cool looks and photo-twisting-action into consideration: Why would you need that/When would you ever want to use that??

I don't know man...

Considering that Nintendo was pushing their "seal of quality" back in the 80's, they can be blamed for allowing certain products to be made for their system. But let's face it, the Power Glove is only terrible in hindsight. I thought it was the coolest thing when I was a kid, even though it only worked properly a fraction of the time and having to punch in codes was a pain. Still, you forgive technical imperfections when you're a kid.

I do think that motion control was considered the wave of the future back when Nintendo marketed it as a new thing for the Wii, but many gamers still prefer the standard controller. Hell, I rarely play Wii games that make heavy use of the motion control except for the House of the Dead games. I still prefer my stationary controllers with trigger buttons. I don't think that the Playstation Move will be as profitable for Sony since it's not really a new idea anymore, but it will be interesting to see how Sony and Microsoft compete in this arena.

Speaking of which... where's all of our light gunz for the PS3 and 360??? I'm rather upset that they forgot about those this generation and the games to go with them! (I realize light guns themselves won't work with new tv's, but there are other technologies available)
