Just wanted to say guys its great being here, and I am just curious as to what you guys consider your favorite book series, or just reads in general. For me, if you watch my channel on youtube, its "A Song of Ice and Fire" by George RR Martin, which is a fantastic, and mature fantasy Series, with characters that in my opinion have a great level of depth. Its my favorite book series, so what are some of your guys favorite reads! |

That other thread also included book series, but I don't mind several threads. |

Mine would probably be the LOTR trilogy. I am guilty to watching the movies before reading the books, but I loved both of them.

Some of you might laugh, but I am into the Southern Vampire Mysteries by Charlaine Harris. I quite enjoy the show True Blood and this piqued my interest in the novels. I like the books a lot, certainly moreso than Twilight (which I cannot stand). Aside from that, The Dark Tower by Stephen King is an old favorite and I am a big fan of the old Sherlock Holmes and Agatha Christie mysteries. |

Tolkien's stories (The Silmarillion, The Hobbit, The Lord of the Rings, etc.,....). Like Scott, I watched the films before I read any of the books, but once I did I quickly became obsessed. I've been making a point to read the Hobbit and the Lord of the Rings once a year (I'm currently on the Hobbit; taking me longer to finish then usual....). Actually, my first dealings with an online-forum was Tolkien related; back in the day I frequented The Barrow-Downs a lot. |

I never finished reading them all, but not too long ago (maybe 2 years) I started reading the Harry Potter series, they were very addicting books and I was just blowing through them. I started reading Order of the Pheonix but stopped there, I want to pick it back up sometime. Besides that I really like the LOTR books. |

The mentioned Song of Ice and Fire series is great. Check out Cormac McCarthy's Border Trilogy. |

If you haven't looked into it yet, check out Robert Jordan's "The Wheel of Time" series. I may be slightly biased here but it's my opinion and many other peoples that this series blows any other fantasy series out of the water. It's the best set of books I've ever read and I'm currently on book 6 of 12 (which will become 14, not including the prequel, and possible 2 other follow ups to the prequel.) Unfortunately, Oliver Rigny AKA Robert Jordan has passed away, and his materials have all gone into the hand of Brandon Sanderson who is finishing the series. I've never read anything as good as these books though. There's a huge fanbase for them, and plenty of information on the internet if you feel like further researching. Also, most of these books can be purchased in hardcover edition off of ebay for around $3-$5 a piece, which is a steal. |
