Recently about a week ago a YouTuber(Wip3ou7) posted a 2 part show on his own personal retrospective on the Lunar series.By far this is one of the best retrospectives I have ever watched.I have provided a link to part 1

Amazing videos, really enjoyed both parts. I own a lot of Lunar games even though I have never played any of them.

Let's I own both the PSX versions, the GBA remake and the DS remake of 1.

I gotta pick up the PSP version and give it playthrough once. Unfair to own all these games without ever playing them...

I have played through most of the first one, but Lunar's battle system made me quit it. I am not always in the mood for heavy grinding/having to nearly fully heal yourself after every battle killed it for me.

The story was great and the dialogue was amazing though. I mean I have never seen such funny dialogue. It is a shame that the battle system couldn't cut it for me(Note I lived with it for around 15 hours). I will hopefully go back to it one day, but I think this series gets too much credit from the cult fanatics/working designs freaks for the overall greatness of the game, but in terms of dialogue and hilarity this game can't be beaten.

I hated the fact that most boss battles ended up with the hero using the SAME attack over and over.

Sword Dance I think it was called?

I played through the SCD Lunar last summer and man, I can see how it was good at the time, but I couldn't wait until it was over. I really love retro games but I don't think that one has aged well at all. Don't know about the other ones, or the remakes though.

Yeah all the bosses were the same. They all have massive aoe attack damage and it plays out the the same way every time.

Again, I don't want to rant on the game I loved it in many ways, but in others categories I hated it. Also, the game is kind of outdated.

I just got the SegaCD versions not too long ago. I either need to run them through Fusion or get me a Gen1 which is on my long list of things to buy. Why can't money grow on trees.

It does grow off trees, but if you meant literally you better hope it is only your tree because inflation will sky rocket like no other.

I'm about 23 hours in so far.I think this is a good(but not great) update of Lunar Silver Star Story.XSEED did a tremendous job with graphical improvement and voice overs.Though this game can be a chore on patience for all the XP grinding it is truly pure nostalgia for me.For this current gen though it is outdated. But man is this current port EASY.I haven't died once with my entire party and I've had only 1 character killed during battle thus far.I haven't played LSSS(SegaCD) and LSSSC(PS1) in years but they were much more challenging for me.The story is still great as well. If your looking for a classic JRPG with voice acting and anime cutscenes and you've never played Lunar def check this out.But by no means is this port groundbreaking.

Thanks for letting me know about the video SplatterTrigger. It was definitely an interesting video about someone's passion toward the Lunar Series.

As for myself, I own:

1.) Lunar: Silver Star Story Complete - PSX
2.) Lunar 2: Eternal Blue - PSX
3.) Lunar: Dragon Song - DS
4.) Lunar: Harmony of the Silver Star - PSP

The rest of the Lunar games especially for the Sega CD I am going to own by the end of the year.

The Lunar Silver Star Story Complete was the second game I ever purchased on ebay with the guide and it still remains one of my most favorite rpg's. It is a generic rpg at best, but the characters were memorable and for me nothing about the game ever felt tedious. I did have to play the game three times in order to complete it.

1.) First time I played it, I missed out on a bromide due to an inaccuracy on the Lunar Strategy Guide.
2.) Second time I played it, I missed out on two bromides due to doing something incredibly stupid at the beginning of the game.
3.) The third time I played it, I finally managed to obtain everything

Thankfully for Lunar 2: Eternal Blue for the PSX I managed to get everything the first time I played it.

For one of the favorite things that I always enjoyed about the Lunar series is that it pretty much had some of the best voice acting I ever heard in any video game. All the voice actors matched their characters perfectly, and I absolutely adored the voice out-takes at the end of the game.

When Ghaleon messed up some of his lines were the absolutely hilarious in the first game.

"Not Ghaleon, Dear Quark, Magic Emporoar Ghaleon"

"I can't get through this f******** sentence."

"Now my coming out party can finally f****************"

Voice out-takes are something more games should do more often and the Lunar series will always have some of the most hilarious gaming voice out-takes of all time.

I take everything I said back. Just beat the game because I decided to give it another go. I am an idiot. It does have its flaws, but it was well worth getting over it. Absolutely amazing game.

9/10 for me, but there are aspects of this game that are 11/10 it is just that good.
