So I've been listening to Plastic Beach for the past week and, given that I'm a huge fan of Gorillaz, figured I'd like to hear others peoples thoughts. I enjoy most of the album, but think it had its high points then kinda descended on other parts. Favorite Songs: Rhinestone Eyes, On Melancholy Hill, and Broken Even though I enjoy most of it, and think its great - I still think its gonna be hard for them to top Demon Dayz. |

Gorillaz is a band that fuses genres like hip-hop, rock, pop, and even some electronica. Your taste seems to gravitate towards hard rock and metal, so Gorillaz would probably not be your thing. But if you're feeling adventurous, give them a try; you might like it. Personally, I've been a longtime fan of Damon Albarn's bands (Blur, Gorillaz, and The Good, The Bad and the Queen) and I have enjoyed both previous albums from Gorillaz, and I think that "Plastic Beach" is as good as either of the two previous efforts. Few of the songs are as catchy as "Feel Good Inc.", but it's quality music nonetheless. I don't care much for the cartoon band persona, but the music is catchy and I always find something to like in this band. I definitely recommend it. Edited by browland1, Mar 16 2010, 01:07 AM.

I will need a few weeks before I really can compare the two CD's but anything they put out would seem lackluster after the greatness that is Demon Days. |

I've been meaning to get my hands on their new album, I'm sure I'll still greatly enjoy it, I've always like Gorillaz quite a bit, just the flow of their songs and the way they compose and fuse different elements together. Kids with Guns is probably one of my favourite songs by them. |

Blur is my preference over these bands as they were so good in the 90's set along with Oasis. I am a fan of some of the Gorillaz songs such as Clint Eastward and sunshine but most of their songs just seem too...random I think. Mixing all of these genres together puts me off. Although I do keep a wide variety of songs on my Ipod from different types of artists. Too much on one album. |
