So I went to EB games and picked up my xbox 360 special edition final fantasy xiii console the 250gb pack...well you get final fantasy xiii and dragon origins aslwell ....took it home took dragon origins to another game store to trade because I didn't want it...only to have the store tell me it wasn't a brand new copy the guy showed me the disc it was scratched and was defanetly not new. Eb games chucked in a second hand game with my pack.....of course when I took it back they denied it. Will not be shopping there any more

Sounds like a mistake, and something you should have checked out before you went to trade in the game... Hardly evil

happen to me before to. and i argue with the guy that helped me take out the game and did everything for me. and for not giving me my money back i egged the store and the guy's car... he deserved it..... i still go in and buy games. he doesnt know it was me. lol |

only had a problem with gamestop once and that was that the person workign at the one a block from where i use to live my ex roomie had gotten need for speed underground for us to play on the ps2 and we got home and it didn't load correctly......i took it back for her and was able to get a replacement then one other time the guy was stupid and said the ps2 GH controller worked with the ps3 i had to take it back and get a ps3 controller......those are the only 2 times where i've had problems and i shop at gamestop all the time |

They open one game and leave the rest behind the counter, if you end up getting the display copy they sell it for full price, for a opened product, not cool. |

I have one Gamestop that I don't like. Honestly, evertime I walked in this store he would try to force people in and out of purchases and trade-ins... I refuse to go there; even if he quits, his aura is still there. Good thing there's another GameStop in that mall.

I have had a few propblems with this one gamestop. The stories are too long to type out so I will male it short. I went to trade in a brand new game, just to see how much I would get. I turn around to look at the hames under $10 bin, while he was looking up the price. When I turn around the guy was opening the game with a knife. He never even asked me if he could open it. All in all, I contacted the manager and he gave me a $40 gift card. |

Not sure about the US, but no gamestore in the UK would take in a sealed copy of a game. But that guy that opened it, was a muppet, and the manager was right to reimburse you. |

I only buy 2nd hand for old consoles. I'd only buy 2nd hand for new systems if the game is so rare that I don't care. |

i think most people know how much i hate gamestop, the ironic thing is that i'm going there today. it's the last day of the 50% bonus trade value promotion, pretty much the only time you can get a fairly decent amount from them. i ONLY go to gamestop if there having some sort of sale, i can't stand the idea of paying $60 for an opened game when walmart is a only few feet away. the guy that usually works there is actually a collector as well so i've never really had any problems with careless employees yet.

Happens sometimes, i'm afraid there's a chance of mistakes like that in every store. I wouldn't stop shopping there though, they got some pretty nice deals sometimes ^^ |

The main thing I watch out for is if you are like me and hate greatest hits/platinum hits/ best sellers editions. When you grab a first printing case.....before you leave the store make sure they didn't put a 2nd printing disc in the case. I always have to check this because they honestly don't care. They just grab the disc no matter what edition it is. Also be careful if you buy used collector edition tins. Sometimes they will not put the extra content discs in the case like audio discs or extras content discs. |

Most of these comments are about Gamestop... Isnt this topic called "Eb games" is evil?? Lol, I only shop at Gamestop for my games and I have never had any problems with them. I had an eb games in a mall near us and when i bought True Crime: New york for the ps2 like 3 years ago they gave me a scrathed up one when I bought it brand new... I was like... w/e.. |

EB Games and GameStop merged in 2005, so they are essentially the same store, just a different name. Most EB Games have been renamed to GameStop. |

gamestop is my least favorite place to shop, the one around here sucks because ppl only trade in games that dont work anymore and they dont test to see if the games work anymore and ppl that buy them suffer because of it |

The only thing that keeps me going to gamestop is wanting a new game fast, limited editions, and special preorder bonuses. I don't even like buying used games from them anymore because of all the problems they have. |

Well they can't take sealed games as trade ins anyway so he would've had to open it if you wanted to trade it. Perhaps you didn't make it clear you were just wondering and not actually doing. I don't understand where all the hate from GameStop comes from. They're a business in it to make money, not for the love of games so of course they aren't going to give you trade in value equal to what they sell stuff for. They wouldn't make any money! Never had a problem with used games not working or being scratched up. I asked an employee and was told they do indeed test all trade ins. Stickers all over the games: annoying yes; enough to make me stop shopping there? No. They have some really good deals on used games that I otherwise couldn't get my hands on because of shipping and handling costs on the internet. GameStop definitely has some things they could change to improve but overall it's a good place to have nearby to pick up a few games every now and then. |
