For those looking to GAIN weight, here is a website you might find helpful:

http://thisiswhyyourefat.com/

I don't know why, but I love visiting this site just to see how ridiculous people can be with overconsumption.

If you're under 18, don't worry about weight. You get an automatic pass. ;P
You got exams and the other modern day stresses of growing up + a changing body, weight isn't an issue.

18+ no excuse :P
Haha, I like that post, but if there was someone from the school who really cared what the other guys think, they might want to lose weight for the locker rooms. :D

But, that is not really me, I am not that sensitive about my weight. B-)

I'm gunna let you in on a secret.

School is horrible, painful few years of your life. That ultimately make up a minuscule, insignificant portion of what should be a very prosperous life.

I got bullied for my appearance while at school by all the jocks. I kept my head down, ignored it, worked on my grades I needed, and never looked back. Those cocks that spent all their time picking on other peoples appearances? They're still stuck in that rut, criticising others due to their own lack of self-worth.

You're at school for grades. The kids at school with you? Ultimately, it'll take alot of effort, but you'll keep in touch with your best friends, and probably won't ever see / notice the other kids. The relationships and social standings you make during that time are mostly gunna mean shit, and be forgotten as soon as that bell rings at the end of semester ;P Grades on the other hand, that's a completely different headache :P

Haha, I am very much aware of that, but hopefully some of those friendships will carry on with me through High School and College, although unlikely. But, correct me if I'm wrong, aren't Middle School grades not really even looked upon for Colleges and Universities to decide whether to let you be their student? They really only focus on High School grades, am I right?

I was a pudgy kid with glasses in high school and I got picked on in the early grades, but then I became cool, started dating, and (somewhat regrettably) I became a stoner for a while. I maintained fairly decent grades throughout high school and I have done fairly well for myself since then. Due to the awesome power of Facebook (and my abilities as a lurker) I managed to look up some of the idiots who tormented me in high school. Most of them are still the same ass-clowns they were, only adult versions. You know it's sad when every picture of someone on their Facebook is them acting stupid or drunk (or both). If that's what keeping that kind of company leads to, I'm glad I chose differently!

Haha, and suffice to say, if their attitudes stay that same way from early grades to adulthood, they will go from being seen as somewhat cool to complete idiots real quick. What may have been cool earlier on is never cool later on, I say. That's why you don't see 35 year-olds egging cars or taking dares.... most of the time.

I see some people talking about trying to lose weight to become "cool" or somethings like that. I do agree that a lot of people do try to change their appearence to try and be cooler. Me personally, I get along with everyone, I can fit into the "nerdy" group or even the "cooler" more "popular" group. I want to lose weight for myself and change my habits before I get older and then it'll be even harder.

These aren't the droids we're looking for.

My key to success in high school? Grew my hair out, dressed in black, got 2-4 hours of sleep a night, skipped breakfast and lunch, and acted really cranky (depression'll do that to ya). EVERY DAY. FOR 2 YEARS. Believe it or not, I became stupidly popular that way. Everyone called me Gothic Jesus.

Me during my high school days (crappy webcam picture):

Then I dropped out, went into exile, cut my hair, and got my GED. Meh. I had godly hair....

How's this getting on guys? Anyone actually tried any weight loss? :D

I've got to lose a further kilogram in 2 months. 2.2 pounds, for my first MMA fight on July 17th.

Currently walking around at 71kg, which is 156pounds. Need to get below 70 (or 155pounds). Being a lightweight rocks :D

I'm currently stringent on diet, but May 12th is my last fatday for the 2 months. Just salads, white meat and fish to cut down. Gunna be dulllllll.

If anyone wants to join in on a 2 month healthy eating spree, it'll be appreciated :D

So far, this really hasn't been working out. I've found myself extremely busy with work and school in the past little while and I just don't have the energy to be exercising. Once this little speed bump is out of the way I think I can get back into it.

Yeah, that's true.

I'm just 14, but for kicks and giggles, I'm:
Weight: 166 pounds
Height: About 6 feet, like 5 feet 10 inches at the least.

I'm considered overweight, but not much. I want to lose weight, but I don't think TOO much about it; people say I'm skinny.

I Like Games.

I have been eating a lot healthier myself. For the past oh...2 months about I have cut out ALL sweets like cookies, candy, cakes, soda, nothing w/ sugar, basically nothing that is "bad" for you. The only thing I treat myself to is the rare slice of pizza, or a meal at a sushi restaurant (where Iam selective of what I order). I now regularly eat salad w/ water...eat sandwiches without mayonaise on wheat bread, etc. This semester in college I am also taking 2 gym classes (required) but it should be interesting to see how this all fits together. I have loosely been keeping track of my weight, I have lost about 15 pounds and now weight 170 pounds.
Honestly once you go a week without any soda, sugars, etc, you no longer crave it and it becomes sooo much easier. I still sit most of the day and play games too lol, so you can lose weight without too much exorcise as long as you eat right!
One thing I also recommend are Slim Fast drinks. I get the chocolate ones and a single can is only like 140 calories and it fills you up like a whole meal would, and they taste great!
I hope this will encourage all of you who are trying to lose weight, don't give up!

In my senior year of high school, I weighed nearly 300 pounds. And then I met a girl, and decided she'd never like me if I looked like Shrek, so I lost about 100 pounds. Down to 180. It was grueling, and she never did end up going out with me, but it was worth it anyway.

After college, and getting a desk job and settling down, some weight has crept back up on me (as anyone who watches my videos can plainly). About a month ago, I resolved to lose some of it. Basically, cut down on my calories, go jogging and drink a ton of water --the same way I did it the first time. Down about 15 pounds thus far, which is probably better than the first time I did this, and I feel great. Much more energy.

It's really only the beginning that's rough. Like Pete said, if you can hold off for a week or two, those cravings for garbage go away. After that, just stick to your guns and the weight comes right off. :)

I'm still working on gaining some weight, but with the horrible heat and working on my cardio endurance, I'm staying rather stable even while eating a ton. I need to incorporate more weight training again.

About a month ago, I joined a gym and hired a personal trainer whom I see twice a week. I just got tired of being overweight, unhealthy and tired all the time, so I took charge and threw all my effort towards exercise and dieting. It's paid off so far. I am doing an 80/20 ratio of weight training and cardio, so weight loss is not the only indicator of success - it's fat loss. I have so far lost 10 pounds of fat and gained 6 pounds of lean muscle, which is excellent progress for one month.

Diet-wise, I have cut down, if not totaly cut out, all of the bad food I used to have on a regular basis. Gone are the days when I would have a bagel in the morning, a carb-heavy lunch, a somewhat nutritous dinner and junk food in between. It's now lots of lean protein, whole grains, veggies and fruit. There is a big emphasis on protein since I am doing aggressive weight training. The things I have totally cut out include sweets (including chocolate and cookies), bread with white flour, starchy foods like pasta and rice, diet soda and beer. If I am going to drink, I have red wine and limit my consumption to two glasses (allowable under my diet plan). I was craving sweets like mad during the first week, but I hardly miss them now.

I feel better than I have felt in a long time, so this we definitly the right move despite the added expense (almost $300 per month for the gym membership and personal training services). I hope to see better results as time passes, and I wish the same for everyone here who is trying to shed a few pounds.

6 pounds of muscle in a month is very good. I think you can ditch the trainer as long as your doing your exercises with proper form. You are your own best personal trainer, and the results are enough to push you to keep going.

Coming out of retirement for one post only!

Browland, wow. Well done mate!

My advice, keep the personal trainer for a few more sessions, then stop. You'll have an idea of what to do now, stick with the plan they give you and rinse it.

Ensure you have an ipod, or music to hand, as I find I can't get motivated unless I have my own songs to do weights to. Ensure you're taking protein supplements, and maybe creatine if you want an increase in muscle size.

Oh, and the more muscle you have... the easier it is to lose fat. :D

I now dub this community 'Pete's Swole Gamer Room'

@KingJames - I actually need my personal trainer to keep my on track, since I'm my own worst enemy when it comes to exercise. If nobody is motivating me and holding me accountable for my progress, I'll slide off the rails and become a fat bastard again :p Plus, I get along very well with my trainer and he has me on a three step plan that involves endurance training, cardio and weight training. He will be the key to my lasting success since I need something with progressive intensity, not the same workout I'll get bored of.

@Andsy - thanks for the encouragement, matey!

Ok, so I am now starting up exercising and altering my diet to drop my weight. I was at 91.3 kg last week Friday and now weigh 89.95kg. I want to be get a lot lower than what I am at right now. My body drops and gains weight so easily, which makes it rather hard for me to decide what weight I want to be at consistently.

I want to get down to around 80kg. I have all I need to do it. I was wondering what you guys would think is a good time table for it. To be honest, I could probably drop 5kg a month, which is a testament to how bad my diet has been. Is that too much? Thanks!

I don't need to loose weight (am underweight) and have emetophobia which influences what I eat and when. :/

I added more fruit and veggies to my meals plus have more alternatives to milk such as almond milk. I eat no meat, except fish (tuna and salmon).
My only problem is, that I'm not sure how to start exercise. As soon as I do some exercise, I loose much weight and need to visit the docter.
Can anyone recommend me a exercise to start with?

PS: I hope its ok to write on a weight loss thread about healthy changes :S

Healthy changes are the key to weight loss. I have given up sugar, fried foods, pasta and refined carbs and I feel better than i've felt in years. Thanks to my personal trainer and my adherence to my nutrition plan, I gave lost a total of 18 lbs of fat and gained 11.5 lbs of lean muscle over the last two months. I still have a ways to go, but I am very pleased with the results thus far.

@energy - any kind if exercise is good since it benefits you heart and your cardiovascular system. If you're looking to gain healthy weight, consider weight training since it buils lean mass as opposed to fat mass. But find someone who is experienced who can give you some pointers. Overdoing it on the weights can lead to injuries.
