I need to lose some serious weight this year, so I'm glad I came across this from my favourite poster on the forum ;)

I currently weigh (and ashamed) of being 300lbs

I'm 5'11 but have massive health issues which do not help

But reading up on other people's experiences I've decided I need to tone up!
I'll keep you posted if anyone is interested it starts today and so far I haven't picked for anything which is good!

Just need to get excersizing!

Cheers Andsy, another great topic :)
Weight loss is as much of a journey as a process, and it starts with the first step. Here's wishing you plenty of success and positive results, man :)

It's not easy to lose weight. However, I give you full props on being brave enough to work hard and fight it. I, also, wish you best of luck!

For me, I have been getting better and better with gaining weight. I'm up to about 110. Just 10 more pounds to go before I get to 120, so I should no longer look like a skeleton ;)

6 ft 170 lbs is very healthy. If anything, it's underweight.

My family and I have an epic bet going for who can lose the most weight by May. :coin: I'm 5'11" and started at 209 am at about 204 now. Based on my build and such, I think 175 would be a good, healthy weight for me. It's not like I'll get there by May, but I'm going to try to lose as much as possible by meticulously counting calories (turns out my weird love of making lists is awesome for this!) and working out a bit.
So says Mr. Stewart.

It is actually a pretty perfect wait, but it all depends on your BFI. It may be overweight though because he is 14. You can't compare a 6" 20 year to a 6" 30 year old to a 6" 14 year old.

Either way, YOU SHOULDN'T BE WORRIED. You are growing and 6" at 14 is really tall. You should be happy and the more you grow the more *fat you lose. Weight doesn't really matter, but what really matters is what the weight means. You could have a ton of muscle and weigh alot and be in great shape or your weight can be mostly made up of fat.

I posted on here almost exactly one year ago and I was 180. Since moving and starting a new job, I gained a few pounds in the fall but after Christmas, I was determined to get back down and I'm about 172 (I'm 5'9 by the way).

A few tips for those looking to lose weight...

1) Weigh yourself everyday at the same time. This is more of a way to constantly remind yourself of your weight and not become complacent. Weight can fluctuate slightly during the day, depending on when you eat meals, so that's why I say do it at the same time every day so you maintain some consistency.

2) DIET!!! Eating the right foods in my opinion is even more essential than exercising if you want to lose weight, plus it's easier. Learning to cook meals yourself helps because then you can control exactly what goes into your body. Add fruits or veggies to your meals or as a side. I've been snacking on carrots and fruits for a snack instead of chips or pizza bagels and after a while you really don't crave the nasty stuff all the time anymore (some of the time is ok though lol).

3) While it can be difficult to do considering a lot of peoples' lifestyles, try and find a consistent routine for when you work out. Whether it's in the morning, afternoon, night, whatever, just get in a routine. If you create an artificial routine in your head, you'll be more motivated to go out and do it as opposed to just, "I'll do it when I get around to it".

Hey guys I had an idea that I think may be interesting. I'm 5'10" and I weigh about 190 lbs. I'm not really too big but I definitely have some weight to lose. Like the majority of people, I want to work out but I'm usually very busy and bottomline its hard to want to work out.

So I was brainstorming for an interesting way to motivate myself to workout and thought that maybe it would be cool to put a workout game like wii fit plus or EA active to the test. Those games have 60 day challenges that would be perfect to take on so that we see if those games really do produce results. I was also thinking about vlogging the process and maybe posting a weekly update about how its going on my youtube page.

This would create an achievable goal, keep me accountable and it will still relate to video games! And being as this is a PGRF weight loss club, it would be even cooler if other people took the challenge and documented their progress as well.

Its just an idea, So what do you guys think? Is it time to dust off that dusty old balance board and drop some unwated poundage before summer? [luigidance] [sonicrun]

I'm at 5'9 110 or so lbs (Yeah, I'm like the second skinniest kid in my school.) I'm starting to put more muscle on! Baseball season starts soon, so I'm trying to get to 120-125.

Just one more thing for people trying to gain weight like me: Muscle weighs more than fat. If you want to gain weight, push ups and chin ups are great exercises.

Welp, the weight is falling off me, I still feel ill alot of the time, I'll suddenly get hit with a dizzyspell or feeling of nausea. But I'm not letting it effect my cardio or weights training. It has however had a large and negative impact on my MMA training :(

I'm getting up at 6am every day now, in the gym at 6:30am, do either 45mins of cardio, or 30mins and a quick weight session. Grab a shower, into work, then off in the evening, gaming or housework. Earlier to bed, either 10 or 10:30pm.

My diet is awesome at the moment, eating alot of meat, alot of saturated fats, all the stuff doctors tell you not to. I am however, not eating any starchy carbs, and my sugary carbs are entirely fruit, even then I'm sticking more to berries to substitute it with fibre.

The weight is falling off, I'm still no where near my former 6pack self, but I'm not in bad shape either.

If anyones interested in my diet, check out:

This is a great starter point, but don't take it all at complete face value, everyones got their own little agendas they wanna push ;)

I need to get the motivation to start working out again. I'm short (5'10) but a heavier guy, don't know the exact weight.

Would hope to start soon if not for my health problems (heart, stomach, etc)

Change your diet first, then worry about exercise.

Your heart and stomach are reasons you should eat clean :)

@TheSmashLabs if you have the money a workout game definitely wouldn't hurt. I was cynical going into it, but I bought EA Active 2 and it worked pretty well. I didn't do the longer program, I only did the three-week one, but it was still a nice workout. After a while, you end up repeating workouts and it does become repetitive, but the game does a halfway decent job of mixing things up, focusing on cardio/lower body one day, core the next, etc.

There is no real punishment for missing a workout or anything, but I actually kept on schedule 100%, I was suprised! I'm usually a procrastinator so I have no idea where the motivation came from. I think just being able to see the results (calories burned, time worked out, etc.) really motivated me, as did seeing the weight on the scale steadily drop.
