I have seen alot of YouTube Videos where People shows their Collection, explains to others how to Collect, gives Tips for Collecting.. Today i wanted to ask which System you have mainly chosen for, and why. If you collect everything, no problem, explain why you want to collect for every console and do not just collect for a single one. I saw Pete's Video about which System to collect for, and in the beginning i wanted to collect for the NES, but since i travel really much, i thought mine has to be a portable System. Here in Swiss it's not too easy to find NES games, my TV doesn't support older consoles, and i prefer to hold the whole Console in my hands, so i decided to collect for the GBA. The Graphics on it look great, i played it alot when i was really young (nostalgic reasons), and i just like the whole thing (the games on it are great, and the console has great different designs, and all of them look just nice). I collect loose, because i'm 14, and i do not own a lot of money.

Currently - PS2. Now is the time to collect PS2 games in the UK, stores are finally clearing out their stock, and there are alot of bargains to be had. We're in the down-low where games aren't full priced retain games, nor are they expensive collectors items. I expect this to last a month or two before prices start to rise. |

I collect for ps2 but i don't play it as much after getting my ps3...........so i try to get more ps3 than ps2 games if i can.............i get games i actually plan on playing at some point rather than collecting just to collect |

Xbox 360, because I like the way the boxes look, it's my favorite console, and the games on it are much better then the games on the Wii. At least, that's what I think. |

I collect for every console I have which is 15. The main one though would be the NES. It is right up there as one of my favorites all-time because that is what I grew up playing. I am going for the entire collection of U.S. releases and I am 1/3 of the way there. I only collect the best of the best in the genre's I like for the other 14 consoles though. |

I collect for a lot of systems (a few I don't even own at the moment). A big thing for me, though, is to collect games that I played as a child, especially the games my friend used to own. I have a small Humongous Entertainment collection that I used to play at my friend's house when I was a kid, and it's far from complete. Other than that, if I come across a game that looks interesting and isn't too expensive, I'll pick it up. |

I have and probably always will, collected mainly for the PSX, because I like the tall boxes for looks and the cd-cases, because they're the easiest to repair/exchange. Also because I think the PSone is one of the most underrated systems out there. |

Iv just started collection for the n64 for 2 reasons mainly. 1st because I love platformers and I think it got them right, secondly because i missed out on the n64 growing up |

playstation is not an underrated console...........it has one of the most sales in console history and set a record for being sold 12 years after its release.......so i think that the statistics show it is not underrated |

I think he's talking about the gaming community, not sales alone. I agree, the PSOne is kind of an unsung hero, due to being out-shined by the Dreamcast, N64, and even its' older brother, the PS2. Edited by DizzyDial, Apr 6 2010, 02:44 PM.

Well, I buy games for all my systems, but in terms of really feeling like I "collect" it would have to be my snes and ps1. I am an rpg lover and they are the most collectible games in my opinion. The SNES and ps1 were the height of great rpgs in my opinion. |

I collect mainly for the SNES, N64, and the first two Playstations. The main reason is that all of these systems have great games that i can find really cheap. I'm a gammer on a budget so I rarely buy games for my current gen console. Right now I'm focusing on my N64 collection as its my favorite gaming system of all time. true enough............people don't respect the PSone like they use to...........it was an awesome console my mom got a used one for me at a garage sale back in 2000............and it lasted me until i got the original ps2 slim for xmas 2004..........and that has lasted me til now and is still doing good............so i can see where the ps1 has gotten tossed aside but statistics over rules everyone tossing it aside like yesterday's trash no matter how much people toss it aside......... i wish i could one day get another playstation i loved that console..........i'd then try to find every game i had for it and then buy more games for it but yeah i see where you guys are coming from |

The DS is my main system and the one I put the most money into. Got it just last year, and have 63 games so far. Still have a long way to go to catch up with Pete and retrocalypse. But I'm hoping for price drops on regular DS games once the 3DS comes out, at least that's my hope. I also buy PS3 games since I got my PS3 late last year, but I don't buy too many games for it because they're too expensive. Edited by appletsauce, Apr 6 2010, 06:42 PM.

Right now I have to say that I am collecting for the PS2. I gave my first one to a friend quite a few years back and just got a slim recently because of Metal Gear solid 2 and 3. Well what do you know I saw a few really good RPGs on it. I don't even think I've had the system but 3 weeks but I have about 12 games and several want lists. I also have to say I am quietly collecting for the GameCube. I have to be careful with both of these systems in town because I live in a town with a top 10 State University so a lot of games are second and third hand games from college kids... so many times I get a game that just doesn't f'n work all the way. So I have been getting games at gamestop used I am probably just going to buy NEW off amazon. Enjoying both systems right now and they are getting equal playing time with my 360 and PS3. I collect for all the systems I own. I get in moods where sometimes all I might want to play is beat em ups so then I will try and Google for the best games in that genre not in my collection and then start shopping for deals. I don't really say this week I am getting games for my Saturn I just look for the best deals I can find at the time for the type of games I am wanting to play. recently I have been adding to my SHMUP collection and I do this the same way. I try and shop around for the best deal I can find, sometimes I might find a game that's not as high on my wish list but I will get it because I found it cheaper than i have ever saw it before. |

I collect for all of the systems I own, but I lean towards collecting for the older ones (NES, GB, SNES, N64) because they are cheap and have many great games to choose from. Also, it's nice to play games from a time when many weren't as complicated as they are today. Plus, it's fun to find old beat up systems and do custom jobs on them and whatnot. (As soon as I buy some more Krylon Fusion, I'm painting a Game Boy Pocket, a NES controller, and a SNES Jr!) |

I collect for basically every system out there even if i dont currently own the system. I have browsed the net a long time and have been into gaming for a long time to know which games are rare, sought after, or gems on what systems. So keeping this in my head when i go out i pick up these games in the wild if i see them. Also i pick up games even if they arent rare. Currently im collecting hardcore for the sega 32x. I think im one of the only people on the forum or that i know on youtube who collects for the system but im sure there are others. Who else would i be bidding against? lol. Anyways this is what im currently going for and my collection is only 3 games away from being complete. This is the first system i decided to collect complete for including game, box, and manual. After this i will collect for the game.com. I like collecting for systems that people think are lame systems or that people dont generally collect for. Everyone collects for the nes, ps2, and 360. I just like the retro stuff and having something that stands out different in my collection than everyone elses. |

Most of the collectors tips I have seen had simply said to collect for one system, I don't do that, there are way too many games spread out across the board, I like to go for games I think/know I will enjoy playing first, then get the ones that are not so good. I am pretty partial to the ps1-ps2-ps3 and the snes. so many great games on those systems! I like buying gamecube games a lot too..dunno why though.
