Hey everyone,

Just wondering what everyone through would be a rare or hard to find PS3 game in 5 - 10 years?

I've heard people mention Forklore and Valkyria Chronicles but what is everyones throughts?

Folklore is my bet.

My reasoning behind this that it is the most solid action RPG on the system to date, it's very unique, and there isn't a sequel planned. That game will be gold in 10 years. I love it. It's definitely my favorite RPG in the last 5 years.

define "rare". If by rare you mean super expensive because people like it, then pretty much anything that's remotely RPG-oriented.

I think he means games that are less popular, therefore sell less copies, therefore are less common in the future. Like...say...Stadium Events for the NES? Hahaha.

hehe yeah...

Then it would probably be some obscure 3rd party game. Maybe that Bayonetta port

I think for a game to considered rare there needs to be limited copies available and the game needs to be in demand. Obviously the better the game is the more in demand it is.

From what I've heard, Bayonetta for the 360 was a good game but the PS3 version has some issues and wasn't quite as good.

Folklore is a good bet

Valkyria Chronicles possibly although it has picked up sales in the past 6 months

Disgaea for the PS3 is a decent bet as its already fairly hard to find where I live

Folklore, Valkyria Chronicles, and Disgaea 3 are good bets because they are the best exclusive RPGs for the PS3 at the moment. Unless they get re-released as "Greatest Hits" titles, they are likely to become rare as the years pass. Determining future rarity is not an exact science, since rarity doesn't always equal valuable. Good, exclusive games that sold poorly, went out of print and then went developed a following are most likely to become collectable, provided they don't get re-released.

Demon's Souls Deluxe Edition for sure. It had a low print run (compared to other ps3 titles). Copies are already being sold on ebay for $80 - $150.

Well out of all the ones you guys said I have Valkyria Chronicles, Disgaea 3 and Demon's Souls Deluxe Edition :D. I had a chance to buy Folklore for $14 at Walmart but I passed up the opportunity, stupid mistake 'cause now I can't find it lol.

The UK and Europe will be getting a release of demons souls soon. I'd expect the ebay price to drop as a lot more copies enter the market.

Do you guys think a sealed Eternal Sonata (rpg) would be worth it to keep?

I anciently bought 2 copies form Amazon, and right now it is $27.21.

It's possible, but Eternal Sonata is a cross-platform game which reduces the potential rarity. Exclusives are your best bet.

It's all really hard to say. The only reason video games increase in value is if there is some kind of story attached to them.
If you want rare, for example, try finding Psychic Force 2000 for PSone. It's worth about $15, but I've never seen a copy ever again other then when it first came out.

So you can't really tell, you just have to wait and see if you're lucky.

Besides the titles already mentioned, I do believe Yakuza 3 may become a rare title, it has a small but hard core fanbase, and because of it's release date with other major titles it has not gotten the spotlight. So I believe it will be rare as a game to find, as well as the price may become higher on it.
Demon Souls would definitely be a good bet as well.

I have a strong feeling Demon Soul's will be very valuable, epic RPG that has one of the hardest game challenges to date. Anyways, I have a strong inclination that if you happen to have the Fallout 3 Collectors Edition with the Lunchbox + Bobble Head you will be looking at a nice selling price for the future.

Collector's edition Demon Souls. Disgaea 3 may though many probably picked it up at the game stop sale like I did. Folklore has always looked interesting to me, but it doesn't seem that great. Valkyria will not. It has had sales that constantly pop up and almost everyone who wants it has it.

I think games being rare in this generation won't happen unless its some limited edition type of thing.

Pretty much. Handhelds have rarer games and we live in a society that runs on reprints and mass production.

Limited edition have the potential and already show it.
*Note-Collector/Limited edition have a big a difference. Just look at halo 3 legendary edition. That was NOT limited.

the euro release of demon's souls will be quite valuable as it will come with the fan made walk-through/wiki as the guide. The NA limited edition is also fetching a high price when it comes with the art-book and soundtrack and guide and all that jazz.

Time Crisis 4 w/ GunCon 3

Time Crisis is already rather rare for the PS3 and can fetch a rather high price on eBay and such. Since the PS3 is now moving to motion controls and probably no other games will be released that use the GunCon 3 I only see it going up in value.

ok so I come back to this thread

-the eye of the beholder (especially the cards)
-time crisis 4 with guncon

and probably some of the jap only ps3 exclusives

... there was that ridiculous uncharted 2 edition i've seen that you could only get through some contest or something which is insanely expensive and rare even now.

Here in the PAL regions:

Folklore is common and cheap. £15?
Disgaea 3 - SO, so common. < £10.
I've seen Time Crisis with Gun for £40 - £50. But, only once or twice. COuld become rare in future.
Valkyrie Chronicles - I Want a copy of this and can't find it in shops. In PAL regions, I'd say this is gunna become a good bet.
VSigma100: If I've learned anything on here it's that Andsy is a crazy bastard. LOL.
