Sure...... As I said before I collect playstation 2 playstation 3 and nintendo DS games as well as games for the orginal Xbox. Me I have platinum hits games for my xbox and greatest hits for ps3 and ps2. it does not phase me that they are titled such as when i put them in they have the same game play and controls as that of the original release version. They are the exact same game other than the physical appearance of the disk and case so why let the title "greatest hits" stop me from buying the game. |

i prefer to own the original version but i definitely count greatest hits games as being in my collection. the only games i don't count are disc only games. |

Yehhhhhhhhh. Try telling book collectors that the first print run is the same as the twelth. But hey, they're the same book right? I'll grab the plat if I can't get the original. But I'm pretty harsh when it comes to discriminating against the filthy, disgusting infidel silver labels. |

I don't ike them because they just have an ugly look, and they're not original. Being a Collector, i would like to have everything Original. Would i be just a Gamer i wouldn't care, i would get the one with lower Price. |

I prefer the original that silver in platinum games put me off. same with greatest hits but its not as bad. |

Well you think they are ugly fine. But being a collector myself i collect the game no matter if it is original greatest hits or in a generic case. I don't discriminate what game i get. I much prefer the greatest hits to a generic case but if i can't find greatest hits or the original i'll still buy the game even with the generic case. |

By a generic case, I assume you mean in a clear case with no identifying marks? And I'll cuddle my platnium copy of crash bandicoot, to make it feel better for being replaced by it's hotter, brother 'black label'... You know, so it doesn't feel like it's being discriminated against. |

I am not a big fan of Greatest Hits/Platinum released simply because the colors of the labels clash with the standard, black label editions. Maybe I have OCD or something, but I like how PS2, PS3 and 360 games have a look of uniformity on my shelf. However, when some of the cases are bright red and the labels are a different color, it clashes. But if the black label version is substantially more expensive or unavailable, I will go for the re-released version if need be. As others have said, it is still the same game, so it is part of the collection regardless. |

Let's look at Final Fantasy VII, which is a prime example of a game that has a much sought-after black label version and a less valuable (but still sought after) Greatest Hits release with the ugly green border on the artwork. Most collectors will seek out the black label version first and most sellers will charge less for the re-release. Casual "hobby collectors" are less likely to concern themselves with the differences in the original versus the re-release game, since it's essentially the same game and packaging is a non-issue. The more serious collectors will always seek out the early pressings of a game before settling on a less-valuable "Greatest Hits" release. Edited by browland1, Apr 26 2010, 01:46 PM.

That's the thing. We're not seeing it from a collector's standpoint, we are seeing it from a non collector's standpoint. For us, all games are equal. We should just leave it at that because we will obviously never agree with each other.
