This question always baffled me...

Start your collection in a way that suits you, the reasons for collecting must remain yours and yours alone :)

Do you wanna start with PS3 games, or do you wanna grab a slice of retro?

Depends entirely on your budget, and direction :)

I say collection what you like. If you have a bunch of games and stuff you don't want or like, then you will probably lose interest in collecting.

Collect what you like. You can have the whole ps3 library and enjoy only a handful of the games. If you want it get it in my opinion, but I wouldn't recommend spending money to just at more cases on the shelf. Unless you are planning on collecting every game for a system just go with what you like.

Go buy wii games, ps3, and heck even 360 if you have it. You will see in the years to come without even trying to make a collection it will be there.

if you like mario and sonic and zelda, then I would recommend either NES, or SNES, or possibly Gamecube/Wii... Mario and Zelda as well as well as Nintendo's other franchises, donkey kong, metroid, etc... are all on there, and none of those systems will be hard to collect for.. As for sonic... Well, many of the sonic games are available for Wii, gamecube, 360, ps3, ps2, DS, and so on... Sonic is pretty easy to get on nearly any system... Mario and Zelda are Nintendo only... You could always find a Genesis for cheap though, and sonic 1 and 2 carts are pretty easy to come by... Personally, I would go for the system you feel the most comfortable playing.

Ds Games!

You can't go wrong with the ds (unless you buy lousy games, then you'll go wrong with any choice), however as most people have stated, do what you feel like. Your supposed to collect because you enjoy it, not as a job.
