I know Pete has talked about this sometime before, but I dunno if there is a Thread about it.

The game looks great, but I was wondering just who exactly is behind Watermelon games, and how many people. How long has it taken them, and when will it be released?

Sega Does What Nintendon't

I sent Pier Solar a e-mail requesting tracking on my game since it has been 20 days and here is the response I got.

Hello MajinPowers,

We ran a few tracking requests and everytime parcels are waiting room before customs. Which means its because of xmas, all postal offices around the world struggle.

I would recommend to wait a few more days before doing a tracking request.
Thanks for your patience,

Fonzie

That is a strikingly different response than what I got. He just flat out said that there weren't going to be any tracking numbers. Post on here if you get anywhere with that. I'll be popping in from time to time to check.

On the digitpress forums someone said they weren't shipped out the 13th like the email said. They were shipped on the 20th.

I wish I would've known last week it was really shipped on the 20th. I waited all last week for it, rearranged my work schedule and everything just so I could sign for it.

Maybe I'll get it by the end of the week or early next week, but I'll probably have to pick it up from the post office since I won't be home to sign for it.

A tracking number would've been really great to have.

That's interesting. The earliest known arrival was in Taiwan on the 21st, but that's on our side of the international date line, so it could have been the next day already over there. I do remember that very same person saying that packages from China to Taiwan take virtually no time at all.

That's very interesting.

Orders have opened up for the reprint version of the game. This is the message you get before confirming your payment.

"45$us payment will be done using Paypal only, worldwide shipping is included into the price except in unlisted countries.
Once payment is received, your order is locked until shipping.
We have a shipping session every 45days.Thank you for your understanding. For any question, just ask on the board."

So I can confirm that orders are now being taken for the reprint. I haven't been waiting for this nearly as long as some of you have. It's going to take ~2 months+ before I even get mine.

I'm really aggravated at this point. Some people have recieved copies and some have not yet they are already taking orders for the reprint! I am trying not to think about it but it's hard not to. If I am one of the unlucky few to have my copy lost/damaged then god knows when I will get it. They really should have provided tracking numbers for all of us. We have only be waiting like 2 years....so tracking info would have been a nice common courtesy.

I imagine that not every game was shipped at the same time, and given the way packages come from china, the second batch could be an entire week behind the first one.

If you've ever bought something from China or Hong Kong and haven't paid for premium shipping, you'll know that it can take 2-3 weeks to get here. In college I bought the Jet Set Radio/Future OST's, and they both came from Hong Kong. I bought them from the same place, but one took 2 weeks, the other took 9 days to arrive. If they miss the plane, they have to wait till the next one takes off, and that usually isn't right away.

On the other hand, I just thought about their shipping directives, and if they shipped the last batch on the 20th last month, the next one could be going out as soon as 2/3. Here's to hoping!

Edit: I just watched Pete's video which was posted 1 week shy of 2 years ago. I am now realizing that the reprint copy is $10 more expensive than the deluxe sega cd edition.

@Pete I know you were frustrated in the live stream earlier that you still haven't gotten your copy yet. Maybe they noticed your video and are sending you something extra. Don't give up hope yet!

They say that every game got shipped at exactly the same time.

Whatever the case, there's been a steady trickle every day of people receiving their copies. I've not seen a day where someone hasn't gotten one. So, there's that.

Also, talking about it on multiple forums, I get the impression that MOST people in the states haven't gotten theirs, so it's still very remote that anyone here is the unfortunate intended recipient of one of the damaged copies. We're talking 5 copies out of 2400. Those are good odds.

Also, Fonzie said he would check the orders and inform the people whose packages were damaged THIS week, and I never received any such email, so I'm not even worried about that.

Yeah, I think that it's kinda crappy that they started a second batch run before all of the current copies arrived, but I get the impression that they had already planned to do the second run before it was apparent that the shipping was going to be this slow. They had teased a special announcement for the new year weeks before January 1.

I'm annoyed but not worried, but mainly because I can't get any tracking information out of Fonzie. He keeps saying that he knows where all of the packages are, and they're either stuck in customs or slowly making their way through delivery.

I'm going to give them another week before I raise a ruckus again.

Just got mine today.

Okay, here's a tip for anyone who has Sega CD: Don't even bother using the enhancement disc. Rip a copy of it and use THAT. The enhancement disc is a bad pressing that doesn't work right with the Sega CD, but a CD-R will work just fine. You can copy the disc on your PC directly or even use the link that they provide on the website.

Also, don't listen to Watermelon's explanation. They're wrong, and their explanation doesn't make any sense. There's no reason that a CD-R of the soundtrack should work instead of a regular pressing. It just doesn't add up, and I'm tired of hearing it, personally.

The disc that I got doesn't work on Sega CD, but my copied CD-R disc works just fine. I've kept my Sega CD in immaculate condition. I'm not going to listen to them tell me that my lens is dirty. Don't listen to them, or else you'll be taking your Sega CD apart for no reason.

It's really cool to see small development teams develop games for retro consoles. You guys should check out www.elysianshadows.com. Elysian Shadows is a 2D RPG being developed for the Dreamcast. The style of the game is like Chrono Trigger and the development team is awesome.

I am so pumped! Going to fire up the CD unit right now to see if I got a working enhanced CD or not. Does anyone know if all the music CD's were bad or not?

Not all of them. Some people have gotten them to work, but failure rate is pretty common. You'll know five seconds into the title screen if yours is bad. Certainly doesn't take long to find out.

You will not be disappointed, though. I'm only five hours into the game myself. It really does feel like stepping back into the 90s just opening this thing up and playing it.

The game really does feel like a 1990s JRPG. The in-game art is excellent. The music is amazing, whether you're playing with or without the disc. In fact, you can jump into the options menu and change the music settings any time you want. Sometimes it is really cool being able to contrast and compare between the two soundtracks.

I guess I can say that it was worth the wait. I'm still a little irritated having to wait so long, but it's hard to stay angry about it after playing it.

You will wait until the end of time!

Though in hindsight 2012 isn't that far away ;).

It won't take nearly that long. I would have thought that Pete would have had his by now. But then again, i thought for sure that my copy would have been delivered the week after Christmas.

Shouldn't be too much longer. Not that I would actually know.

UPDATE: The people have spoken. Anyone who wants a tracking number on their package can now get one via the contact form on the website.

The tracking number does nothing, it just tells you that it left China at the end of december. Fonzie just says to be patient as it is likely delayed due to being held by customs...lol...

Here is email I just received after asking for a tracking #.............

Hello Heath,

I confirm the game was shipped to "XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX"
Your tracking number is XXXXXXXXXXXXX.
http://www.track-chinapost.com/
It may not give much details to you, but basically it means the game is
in your country, waiting to pass customs. This is due to Xmas overload.
So you can do an inquiry at your local post office, but I think its just
a matter of patience.

Thanks for your patience,
Fonzie

Now the reprint is sold out....I'm getting really pissed off here.
