I know Pete has talked about this sometime before, but I dunno if there is a Thread about it.

The game looks great, but I was wondering just who exactly is behind Watermelon games, and how many people. How long has it taken them, and when will it be released?

I've gotten much farther in the game. Holy crap. Just the visuals alone. There's this one industrial city, where you climb up to the top of this factory, and you look out at this full-screen painting of the city below. I've never seen something like that in a Genesis game before. usually something like that is all tiled. And there are a lot of full-screen paintings like that throughout the game. You can really see what they spent those 64 megs on. This thing is a work of art.

I'd love to play the game.... but I'm too busy calculating how long it will take to get my copy. Let's see...they will replace your game 45 days after being lost in shipping. Mine left China on Dec 30th. So it will be declared missing around Feb 14th or so....they will ship the next copy out on a donkey cart Feb 15th.... 45 days later it will be declared lost and cycle continues.

Maybe I can just watch a playthrough on youtube when someone uploads that. Good job watermelon team...good job.

This happens to be the first time I've heard of this game. I looked into it, and it looks very nice. If I ever get the Retron 3-in-1 Game System, I'm gonna have to pick this up, as a great RPG for the console. :)

Won't work. They designed the game to take advantage of a lot of programming tricks that were not known until well after the 16-bit era had ended. Those clone systems run off of a chip that don't have those features. A lot of the clone systems won't even load the game much less run it as intended. It's pretty much made to run on the official Sega Genesis hardware exclusively.

All reprint editions are being processed as of now, and no address changes can be made. As I expected (and just now confirmed via email), the reprint edition will be shipping out on February 15th. Here's the email I got.

Heeeey. Pete finally got his copy.

http://www.justin.tv/petesgameroom/b/278617932

Watched about the first half hour of his play-thru. Pete's wondering why his highest-level character keeps taking so much damage. First of all, it's not a glitch. It has almost entirely to do with what equipment you're wearing. The designers went to great lengths to make sure that you don't just assume that buying the gear in the next town automatically makes you tougher. Some gear is actually resistant to certain elemental attacks.

Pete seems to be having fun, but I also see that he's experiencing some of the confusion from the design of the desert palace that I experienced. I really hated that place. It took me forever to find the one hidden tile (HINT!) that's obscured from sight. Fortunately, that one dog character has a magic spell to go back to his abode and rest. One of the more forgiving parts of the game, actually. I had to do that a lot.

Let us know when you get to Verdansha, Pete. Tell us if you're still having fun.

And you might want to mod a Wii strap onto your Genesis controller to avoid controller-throwing damage.

I would guess one more print run and then they call quits, unless there's REALLY a demand for it.

I've talked to Tulio and Fonzie, and they are making the copies as they get the money. The next set of reprints should be available for purchase by the end of the month. They only make enough copies for however many orders they get/get paid for. Once this batch ships out (next week), the overhead will be gone and they can process the next batch to go out. They plan to keep making them so long as there is demand (and it seems demand is high).

However, as this is just something they are doing on the side, they aren't sinking personal money into it. Keep checking the page every day if you still want a copy, so long as there is demand, they can continue putting money toward it.

Well I pretty much nailed the arrival date as my copy FINALLY got here today. I was in for a surprise because I could have sworn I ordered the JP Megadrive version.

I received the U.S. Genesis version instead and I am not complaining. My certificate says it's #321/800. Everything was okay with no shipping damage and I have already tested the game and it works fine.

All in all the wait was pretty excessive but I am just glad to have the game at last. Now I just have to start a playthrough on what I hear is a brutally difficult RPG.

Ok I've heard about this since day 1 but was skeptical of ordering one.

So far, only a handful of people have received it, off of which only one or two have working CD's, not mentioning the ones destroyed through china-post.

Re-prints are sold out and overall the game runs in very VERY limited production.

Sounds to me like they're trying to over-inflate their own product for later (sky-high) sales on eBay.

I'm glad I didn't get it yet.

That's kind of an ignorant opinion. Nearly everyone has gotten their copies at this point, however, some people did experience issues. This game was made by an independent team and manufactured in China. They were able to make 800 copies with the money from presale, and that's not a small number for a homebrew team.

I will admit that the included CD was of low quality, but then again, it was made in China.

I ordered my copy about 3 days ago, I really wanted to have it in my collection. I'm not too stressed over how long it takes to get to me, I hope it comes in the 42 days they say it will but if not I can wait. I just want to be able to show people in a few years and tell them the story about it and feel good for grabbing it when I could.

Haha woah, that would be quite the mix-up. Imagine having to email them asking for your 44,955 dollars back...

So... the ones that haven't received their copy are still waiting?

I'm starting to become very skeptical about this

So... the ones that haven't received their copy are still waiting?

I'm starting to become very skeptical about this
There are only a handful of people waiting for their copies from the initial release (december), and those were all mail related incidents. The reprints are just now starting to show up at people's doors, as they shipped out from China on the 21st of February. If you are unfamiliar with shipping from china, japan, or anywhere else in east asia, economy shipping can take anywhere from 10 days to a month and a half. If any problems occur in shipping, not only do they have to be confirmed by the shipper, but they have to be reimbursed by the shipping company.

When you ship out 800+ packages at a time, there are bound to be issues.

Considering this is coming from an incredibly small, independent team, I'm not all that surprised that they would pay for a new shipment out of their own pockets, rather than wait for their claim from the shipping company. I suggest you keep your opinions on this matter to yourself.

If you bought the reprint within the last 2 weeks, your copy will be here somewhere near the middle to the end of april. If you bought your reprint back in january, yours should be arriving here withing the next couple of weeks (they shipped out the last week of february).
