After my exams i'm thinking of buying a racing game. I haven't played so many racing games recently but these two games seems quiet interesting and original.

I've played the split/second demo and it seems fun and IGN gave it a higher rating than Blur. They seem similar in ways so although i'm more leaned towrds s/s, I'm curious about what players think.

I have both, though I haven't tried Split Second personally on my console, I have at my friends, I don't want to get into it until I wrap up some other games.

I have been playing a lot of Blur, it's really fun, if you like racers with the ability to use power ups and smash people than you will get enjoyment out of the game. It has great multiplayer elements, you can gain levels and aquire upgrade mods during races when you reach certain levels. There is lots to do, and career mode is quite impressive.

Down sides are, the A.I even on normal difficulty are HARD, they will be riding on you constantly, and shooting you with power ups and whatever else! Drifting/turning in this game is also a bit harder than I expected, it does have more realistic car physics, so that can improve with practice, but it's still tricky. All in all, this game is fantastic, I am LOVING it, so fun to play with buddies.

Split Second is also SO awesome, it does something a bit different than any other racer, the exploding environments to throw off other cars in the race is a thing of beauty and pure kick ass. This game relies more on drifting since it is used as a sort of power up to your meter in order to explode the environments in front of you. It's also a CRAZY fun game, and reminds me burnout with a twist, which is always a good thing.

Bad part about splitsecond is you are traveling at quite high speeds sometimes, and because of the explosions and last minuets sort of dodge movements, it can be easy to get lost in the track and hard to navigate. I'm sure once you get use to it, you'll be more quick on the trigger, but it is challenging.

I would say pick up both eventually, though I have a feeling that Splitsecond will be dropping in price pretty soon since it hasn't seem to sell all too well, it came out around a pretty hyped up racer - Blur, along with other big titles like Red Dead Redemption and Lost Planet 2.

Thanks for your reply. I know Blur was made by the same developers as PGR which has a very challenging A.I. I've also heard that s/s doesn't have a large community which is a downside in terms of multiplayer game play. I'll see if I can download a demo for Blur if its available and check out the gameplay.
I'm hoping to learn to drive soon so these will get me in the mood!

Red Dead Redemption may also be a game I'll treat myself to in a few weeks.
