I LOVE GoldenEye, but if it does come out for Wii, I hope they don't completely remake it into something horrible. ^_^

Is GoldenEye really going to be remade onto the Wii? If so, then yeah they better not mess it up. The first GoldenEye was excellent on every level and I do not want them to ruin the good times I've had with it.

Update the graphics, add some guns, add some levels, add some characters, and finally make the controls use the Wii mote. That's all I want them to do, I hope to dear god they don't change the gameplay at all.

I'll believe it when I see it. It would take a deal between Activision (owns James Bond gaming license), Microsoft (owns Rare) and Nintendo (owns original code for Golden Eye).

I have an idea that it would cost them more to thrash out a legal agreement between them then the profits they would receive from the sale of the game... Unless it would be released muti-format.

It's not impossible, but I feel it is sadly unlikely.

One thing that I love about this game is the rating system that you get at the end of a round. It would give each player a title like "Most useless", "Most deadly" or "where's the ammo".

I know in most online shooters today you get a wealth of stats, but Goldeneye gave those numbers personality.

Yeah, I thought that was a really cool asset to the game as well. We used to laugh when someone got a stupid label from the scoring system.

Fake or not, still makes me incredibly excited. Still, I wouldn't get the golden gun peripheral. If you've played the original Goldeneye, you would know that's a Klobb and you would also know that it's one of if not the worst weapon in the game, hence, a crappy controller.

My understanding is that Microsoft owns Rare (the original makers of 007), so releasing a Goldeneye remake on any system but the 360 seems like it would be tough. They released that Perfect Dark remake, so I wouldn't be surprised to see a Goldeneye one, I just don't know about on the Wii.

Plus, I think a lot of the demand for a remake is centered around the possibility of online, which the 360 is a better market for.

They tried to release it on the XBLA but Nintendo didn't let them :/ I agree, it'd do so much better on Live, and wouldn't have to risk the possibility of faulty controls.

It's still rumor at this point, but I think that Goldeneye is a game that would benefit from a remake, provided that they don't totally change things around and make this an online shooter with a short and unsatisfying single-player campaign tacked on. The original N64 title is a classic example of how a shooter can balance both campaign and multiplayer perfectly.

Further to that point, if they are finally able to do a remake, perhaps this will clear the way for the original game to be released on the Virtual Console. This is probably one of, if not the most requested titles.

It's not just a rumor, it's on the Australian EBGames website for $98 AUD with a special edition gold classic controller, although it's obvious it will be about half price for you guys, games are expensive as fuck here, and it pisses me off.

Anyway, I'm definitely pre-ordering it sometime soon.

yeah ign.com just posted a hands on with the game it will have a 007 classic mode that replicates the original golden eyes difficulty level complete with half circles around the targeting reticule to show health and armor.you'll also need to find health and armor items in game to heal just like the orginal.

I don't think is a remake...If you've read any of the previews, they mention that it's a completely different game with similar modes to the N64 game.
Can we please fix the quoting system? Pretty please?
