It really takes a great game to make someone cry. It shows that the game was able to engross you so much into it and make you care about the characters in such a way that it invokes one of the strongest emotions we can display as human beings. That being said PLEASE DO NOT WRITE ABOUT A SPECIFIC EVENT IN A GAME because we do not want to spoil games in this thread and take away someone being able to experience the same greatness you got to enjoy. Metal Gear Solid 3 & 4 made me cry and so did FFX. 3 games of ultimate emotion. |

I haven't really cried, but there was a part of me that was sad, and got a bit tear eyed, and that was The Saboteur, Banjo Kazooie, Legend of Zelda, and Mass Effect 2. |

Shadow of the Colossus almost got me. (The part just before the final Colossus fight.) I had tears of joy at the end of FFX. I hated Tidus.

Me too. I don't want to spoil it for anyone, but I assume I'm thinking of the same event. I've never cried, but I also got a little bit choked up at the end of Final Fantasy X and at the end of Crisis Core. |

Metal Gear Solid 3 made me teary-eyed, and Shadow of the Colossus made me cry, but few other games have. Sometimes nostalgia chokes me up too, re-beating Pokemon Blue for the millionth time always makes me reflective and upset. |

I think the closest I've gotten to tears, where my eye's definitely stung, was both Mass Effects. I played 1 through for the first time right before 2 came in the mail on pre-order. EVE Online's downtime story, and the trailer, during the deployment of Empyrean Age Expansion took my into heart pangs hehe. |

Same here. I didn't cry though, because 5 minutes before I got to that part, the dumba$$es on gamefaqs spoiled it for me... I was still pretty upset though. Only games where I got a little teary eyed were FFIX, MGS1 and MGS3 |

Metal Gear Solid series. I cried during every one of them POSSIBLE SPOILERS AHEAD! MGS1 I cried when I let Meryl die. MGS2 I cried when Otacon's sister died. MGS3 I cried when you have to kill the Boss. Honestly, the fact that they make you pull the trigger at the end, rather then doing it in a cutscene, is really brutal. I felt like a murderer. It was terrible. MGS4 I cried because at the end, it's obvious that Snake will die soon. I also got upset when Snake was about to shoot himself. The MGS games have some really sad moments in them, but it's what makes them great...I'm also just a sucker like that. I watch chick flicks and enjoy them...I think the Notebook is great. Man, I'm such a pansy!

It's been a long time since I remember a game making me cry, I know Heavy Rain made me teary eyed, can't remember if it actually made me cry though. MGS4 had me close as well. When I was younger games had a bit more of an edge in making me full out cry, pretty sure FF7 made me cry, but I honestly can't remember what else though. |

The only two games that made me misty-eyed are Final Fantasy VI and VII. Anyone who has played them through can probably guess which parts were the most emotional. I don't think any game has made me outright bawl my eyes out, but there are some games that you get emotionally attached to and you feel the impact of someone dying or the plot taking a dramatic turn. Another game I did get a bit emotional over is Fable 2, near the end where you have to make some difficult choices.

This is why I'm in love with you. Anyways, I forgot Lost Odyssey- some of the stories were too much. FFVII as well, I remember feeling so attacked when (*probably the most iconic, shocking, and now famous moment in all of single-player storytelling*) happened. |

There are some touching moments in that game, or so I found there to be anyway! Some decisions you have to make as well is ROUGH. I also majorly screwed up the end, the series of events that happened made me feel so remorseful! |

In all honesty, I don't think a game has made me cry yet, I typically find it difficult to identify / associate with the fictional characters, because... Hey, they're fictional, it isn't real. That said, Suikoden 2 would have been the closest. Or. OR. Ocarina of Time, closing movie. Music is absolutely beautiful, hell. Just watching it back on youtube gives me goosebumps. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EP7zULA63Ek Really starts at 5:50. Oh God. IT'S HAPPENING. 7:10. |
