Although I think it's a trend that's slowly dying off, I'll always remember buying bargain bin PS2/Gamecube titles and looking at the back of the manual for the 'Notes' section. I was always baffled as to what their purpose was. I could see it's practicality for cheat codes, but I can't imagine most developers embracing the use of cheats to surpass most of their time and effort, and the password system is a thing of the past. Anyone else wondering the same? Have any funny or helpful uses?

Can't say I ever used the notes sections either. I always wanted to keep things in good condition as a kid, weird lol. I can imagine if your going through a difficult part of the game, to write down some notes and look back at them so you don't keep repeating the same mistake. Another use is if you plan to stop playing a game after a short time due to some reason that you can't avoid, you can write down parts of the story so that you can understand what is going on in the game later.

This always annoyed me, picking up 2nd hand games to find some little muppet had scrawled a bunch of level codes or cheats in the back of the manual in hideous neon green felt tip pen. Most of the time you couldn't make out what the hell the characters were anyway.

A2M6H-What the... is this an o or an 0? Turns out it was probably a little sketch of a potato or something...

Myself? I'd still scrawl the same unintelligible garbage, but I had the foresight not only to do so in hideous neon RED felt tip pen, but I'd do it on a scrap of notepad paper, or folded A4. Put that in with the manual, and I didn't need to damage my precious inserts. ;P
VSigma100: If I've learned anything on here it's that Andsy is a crazy bastard. LOL.

i used to tagg up the notes section just cuz i got bored. but then i relized "what the hell is this for anyways? am i suppose to right something down like how to create a glitch so i dont forget? am i suppose to write down the pattern of the puzzle in which i can move on to the next lvl? or just look up this so called "notes" and write them down to the booklet?"

and then i relized.... i was high... and then i went to drawing the characters in the game on the "notes" section......

aahh those were the good times....

Ds Games!

Back in the older days I used to think it was for keeping track of things in RPGs, and then later on I figured it must be for writing down codes or passwords. I always like checking the used games I buy to see if anyone wrote anything stupid.

wow you guys are young...
The Notes section was used to write down passwords, since most games back in the day didn't utilize a save feature.

What they're doing in PS2/Gamecube/even PS3 games is beyond me though
