the REASON why xbox live is a huge waste of is because 1 you need a, like,$100 hard drive too keep your games saves without deleting them. 2. the wireless network adapter cost $1OO!! and after allll that they expact you to pay $50 too keep xbox live! the ps3 has all that stuff BUILT IN and playstaystion network is FRRREEEE!!!! and that my friends, is why xbox live sucks. |

You can get Xbox 360 HDD's for £40/$40. Some stores charge £40/$40 a 120GB because of the newly released 250GB the price of the 120GB dropped. You can get a cheap network cable stretching from you're router to you're console and they are cheap £10-£20/$10-$20. As for Xbox Live, there is nothing much you can do about the price However Xbox Live Silver Membership is free and the only real downside is you can't play online.

I agree that the adapter is insanely overpriced as well as the harddrives, but those two things have nothing to do with Xbox Live as a service. If you had actual complaints about the service than maybe your argument would make more sense. $50 a year is not that much, and if you look around most stores usually have sales for 1 year Xbox Live cards for $30-35 bucks. PSN is free, but you don't get small luxuries like party chats, ease of inviting friends to games, voice messaging, demo's for every arcade game, soon to have ESPN events, etc. I paid $30 for my 1 year card so I'm more than happy to pay that...what $2.50 a month? |

Yes, I told you about the Cable instead of the adapter. But yeah, you can buy a 20GB for cheap and suprisingly oy holds alot of data I am only just about to upgrade and I have around 100 games on my HDD so my 20GB has served me well!

None of this actually has anything to do with xbox live as a service though... Also you can use a much cheaper memory unit to save games, all new consoles come with a way to keep games saves. Just like as if you were to buy a PS3 used, you would need to buy a hard drive to save games. Yes the wireless adapter is overpriced, but it's not required. I believe $50 is a fair price for a year of live. |

All you've discussed is the price rather than the actual service itself. Yes, the Wi-Fi adapter is expensive, but this will be corrected with the new slim model, and the subscription-based service does cost money, I'll give you that. But to be honest, I have been using Xbox Live for over a year and I have been very happy with it. I can't say the same for the Playstation Network - the connection I get is buggy and laggy, which might be my internet but I doubt it considering that Xbox Live live works flawlessly on the same connection. I'd rather pay to get service I can enjoy without dealing with dropped connections and frustrating slowdowns. You obviously feel otherwise, which is perfectly fine, but saying that something sucks just because of the price point is being pretty narrow-minded in my opinion. If the service didn't work and still cost the same, I might be inclined to agree with you, but that's not the case. Xbox Live works brilliantly for me and I have no regrets about paying the subscription fee. |
