The 3DS looks so damn amazing, wow. Well done Nintendo. I've abandoned you when it comes to consoles, but you still remain king of handhelds for sure. Oh man the Nintendo conference was lulzy too. Miyamoto telling everyone to shut off their wireless phones while he was showing the new Zelda. Really professional. Then Iwata came out and talked about the 3DS in really poor Engrish. As expected, the same old crap since forever has been shown too. New Kirby, Mario Party, Metroid, Mickey Mouse, etc. Donkey Kong Country and Goldeneye 007 always had sucked IMO. The 3DS Kid Icarus game looks awesome BTW. Overall I give the Ninty conference a D. That is being generous. |

NINTENDO E3 CONFERENCE WAS INCREDIBLE I JUST got done watching on G4TV and I was VERY impressed by Nintendo's Conference this year! I'll give my segmented thoughts, and keep in mind I did watch the conference, and own both a Wii and a DS: The Legend of Zelda: Skyword Sword This is the one thing that I was looking forward to the most, and it definatly didn't disapoint. The art direction looks fantastic, it's a more mature Wind Waker and that's perfect. The cel-shading will most likely work better on the weaker Wii system over realistic visuals, so I'm glad they took that route. The swordplay looks fantastic, it's great to see link's sword being tracked 1:1 not only in combat but when you're just holding the sword. Enemies that require certain directions of swipes is brilliant, and will add a very original appeal to the game. One thing I'm a little worried about is the realistic route they're going with items like the bow and arrow. Personally, I wish they would just stick to IR control for things like the bow, because, even though it's not realistic, it's fast and accurate. I am confidant that I will eat my works when I see more on things like the bow, however. I did love their display of the other style of items, like the whip which worked perfectly with Wii Motion Plus, and the cool bomb usage that allow you to adjust the pitch and angle of throwing or bowling the bomb realistically. I will also adress the "technical difficulties" and "wireless interference" they were having. Maybe they were truly having these problems, but I don't care, the game is most likely still relativly early in development so I'm sure they'll fix any patches. I'm pumped for 2010! Wii Party Gonna be a casual title... um... yep. Mario Sports Mix Gonna be a cool casual title with some appeal for the more experienced... um... yep. Goldensun DS I've never played this series before, but I only hear good things. Visuals look awesome and the music sounded great. Metroid Other M Looks more Metroidian than ever before, I'm excited for the game Dragon Quest 9 Gonna be a great RPG, and E3 fully emphasized the depth and longevity of the game; I'm gonna hae to pick it up! Donkey Kong Country Returns Looks freaking awesome! Classsic 2D platforming and it's gonna be great. Very fast, frantic platforming that truly look to be a blast. Not that much was shown in terms of motion controls, and I hope that changes; lots of potential. Kirby Epic Yarn THIS game! This would be my Wii game of the show, I think it looks truly sweet. The art style is fantastic, very pastal and, well, yarn-centric. Im'm was impressed by Kirby stripping yarn off of a wall and the felt-like wall falling, allowing you to advance forward. I'm also surprised that there were TWO 2D platoformers at the conference, and on the Wii. I'm totally stoked for this one! Epic Mickey I'm loving the art, the 2D sections, and the depth of gameplay and decision making. The paint thinner and paint mechanic allowing you to take away or add to the world, in tandem with the impact your decision between the two leaves on the characters in the game looks brilliant. I'm now excited for the game. New Goldeneye 007 Never played the original, but can respect it's impact. This will be a fan-favorite for sure, and I'll probably be checking it out, but I need to see more. Nothing in the trailer blew me away, so we'll have to see. Vitality Sensor WASN'T THERE! BOOYAH! 3DS Hardware This was the second thing I was looking forward to, and this looks freaking awesome. I don't think too many people truly love the glasses-centric 3D, and things like the 3DS are gonna kill the 3D glasses market I think. We're gonna be getting 3D on the top screen in widescreen, with an adjuster not forcing you to use 3D. On the bottom you're getting the tried and true touchscreen. They explained why they didn't merge it and it makes sense. We're also not only getting the D-Pad and buttons, but we're getting, like, a slide-pad. I'm sure they'll be a long adjustment period, but this'll probably work better than the PSP's analog nub. The fact that this will be able to take 3D pictures and play 3D movies blew my mind, and all without glasses. The one thing that truly surprised me the most is that the form factor for this is very impressive, considering this is the first time we're seeing it. It looks DSi-sized, and has a similar design; fantastic. As I predicted previously, no price discussed. 3DS Third Party Showing Now, they truly sucker punched us here. They first showed us some big name developers, and then it was like... BAM! Dj Hero 2! Resident Evil! Kingdom Hearts! Metal Gear Solid! WAZZAM! SUPER impressive! Nintendogs and Cats Should be a nice way to showcase the handheld, and releasing it on day one will move systems. Kid Icarus 3DS Finally, we know what Project Sora is up to! Finally we're getting a new Kid Icarus game, and it's not on the Wii, the DS, but the 3DS. The graphics in terms of pure horsepower looks great for a handheld, looks like Gamecube quality graphics. I'm really excited to see how 3D introdues a true depth of feild when it comes to those flying sections. This will make any gamer excited for the 3DS, perfect game to show first Nintendo. Best E3 conference in recent memory, but Sony is up next. Uncharted 3? PSP2? Sly 4? Let's see! Edited by matt456p, Jun 15 2010, 01:34 PM.

I don't know if I can get too excited about the 3DS unless they release an XL form factor. It is not that comfortable for me. Once you hit your 30's and you type on the computer 8+ hours a day you'll know what I am talking about. MSG: Rising's trailer looks better than the gameplay. I will wait to play a demo to get amped up. It looks like a Shinobi PS2 clone. Wii games really impress me. I can't wait for a lot of those games. Nintendo has officially made Wii a system with longevity for everyone. I really love the Kirby, Mickey and Zelda art work. I am interested in the Xbox 360 slim. I already have the latest revision arcade + wireless N + 120G hd. If they have some sort of trade up program at gamestop where I can pay like 50 bucks I'd probably upgrade. But not a penny more. Sony's is pretty boring so far. Microsoft's was terrible. Nintendo really impressed me this year. I want to get every game they showed aside from the casual ones. Hopefully they space the games out well, both for financial purposes of people, and to give us time to beat their games. I'm disappointed (but not surprised) that the new Fire Emblem wasn't mentioned during their briefing. |

I'm extremely excited about the new Zelda, you completely control your Sword and it got more Fresh Colors. It remebers me alot of Ocarina of Time with better, and it looks amazing. I want to use the drugs you guys are using because I think Nintendo's conference was horrible too. The new Kirby game looks like an EPIC YAWN and the Mickey Mouse game so totally has potential to remove Nintendo's infamous kiddy image. Thank god for Dragon Quest IX and Kid Icarus 3DS or else I would say Nintendo is dead. Sony's conference sadly had no demonstration of giant enemy crabs but they sure demonstrated how much of a Wii knock off Playstation Move is. Sports Champions being a big example. Little Big Planet 2? I don't give a shit. Twisted Metal? Yawn. Infamous 2? Zzzzz Killzone 3? LOL first person shooters. Socom 4? See above. Gran Turismo 5? Yeah right. Final Fantasy XIV? lol MMOs The PSP lineup? Well I am VERY excited with Parasite Eve 3 (The Third Birthday) and the upcoming Ys games XSEED is localizing. That part of the conference is what kept it from being a complete LULZaster. BTW that new Kingdom Hearts game can go to hell. The emo hipster series needs to die. My Round up of the keynotes... The Nintendo Keynote was great! Fantastic line-up of games and announcement of 3DS, but did suffer technical problems when showing off the new Zelda for the Wii! The Sony Keynote was ok, showed a decent selection of games but was far too long and lacked surprises. The MS Keynote was a waste of time for me, painfully dull and at times embarrassing. Although it was slightly redeemed at the end by the announcement of the improved 360. |

Haven't watched anything E3 related but I get updates from people I follow on my Twitter through my phone when I'm at work... I'ma start watching some of the videos on IGN and other websites, so far I'm excited for Gears of War 3, Bulletstorm, LittleBigPlanet 2, Epic Mickey, Marvel vs. Capcom 3, Zelda: Skyward Sword, Metal Gear Solid: Rising, Crysis 2, and probably a bunch more, my opinions will probably change once I see all the gameplay, trailers, etc. Only one I've sat down and watched was MvC3, Zelda, and MGS:R |
