This is not new. It's pretty much common knowledge. But I agree with you.
I don't think Pokemon understood that Halo has transcended being just a game- it's as much of a sport/community as Counter Strike, or StarCraft in Korea.
So you're saying it is just the community aspect of the game that people enjoy? I agree that over all the community is much better than that of CoD and many other FPS games. But, that doesn't change the fact that Halo hasn't made much progression in gameplay as time goes by. Sure new maps, new guns, etc., but those sorts of things are pretty much standard for the FPS genre as a whole.

Sure, maybe not the between the games themselves but each of the main 3 brought a lot to the table as far as the genre goes (which I've already explained and don't want to repeat to avoid this thread becoming the 'Kick Dizzy Out' example :P)

What progression are you looking for? Anything past what they've done would make it no longer an FPS. They've added a lot over their run of games. New and innovative multiplayer gametypes, semi customizable characters, Reach is adding different classes, they've added in some things that other FPS's have brought to the table, like the firefight mode. Each games story is different and builds on the previous ones or leads up to it. I think a lot of people are hung up on the left trigger to aim, which would make halo not halo anymore, but just another COD ripoff. None of the other FPS's have made any progression either. Could it be possible that there's just too many FPS's out there now, and people are starting to get tired of them?

I suppose that's reasonable, when I think of space, aliens, and shooters: I think of Halo :P

Also, has anyone noticed that most of the "new crowd" is drawn in by Halo, more than the ones who played Goldeneye 007. Just a little thing I noticed in my school that I wanted to share.

There's a lot of the Goldeneye 007 crowd that plays and loves the halo games. I'm one of them.

Well put. Halo does have a lot to offer, but if they could do that much; I'm sure they could do more with the series.

We'll just have to see when Reach comes around.

And I am honestly tired of seeing new FPS's, because it seems to be flooding most of the current generation and making up most of the new gamers that are just starting out. XD How about all of the developers form together to make one perfect FPS that they can add new downloadable content to whenever needed. What? I'm sure if we suggest it, it is pretty reasonable *shot*

Gears of Halo Fortress of Duty, anyone?

I am well aware of that, but it seems like most of the new gamers out there are immediately drawn to Halo and Call of Duty above anything else for whatever reason.

Damn, I can't seem to get my hands on that game, let alone the map pack. It's sold out in all most all of the stores in my area, it's like the game doesn't even exist anymore! Good thing I got my hands on Gears of Halo Fortress of Duty while I could.

I thought it was supposed to be "combat evolved" but since the first game I don't think it evolved very much. Anyways honestly I don't have much to say about it. By the time it did come out, I wasn't into very many FPS games anymore. I only played the first one a small amount and never tried any of the others.
Slowbeef: Hold on it's the evil wizard who's spinning and striking a pose. And also giant swords, why the hell not.
