I just watched it for the first time and all I can say is that I am absolutely shocked. I don't think I am in the state to actually even write too much, but wow I have never been so disturbed by a movie in my life.

I know a lot of you are younger and don't just read this thread and go watch the movie. Please don't. This movie is the most mature movie I have ever seen and I can't believe my little brother(14) almost watched it with me. Thank God he didn't.

So for those of you who have watched it what do you think?

If you are going to watch it...all I have to say is please by atleast 17 and 16 at the very very youngest. I thought I was all high and mighty and had the lights off and was in a pitch black room while I was watching it. I had to turn on the lights during the movie because if I didn't I would have had a panic attack and the movie still disturbed me beyond belief.

I'm going to have to see that when I get a chance. Yes calm down, I'm 18- not that age dictates maturity in any form (well except physically) but I've seen many-a disturbing psychological thriller. I read the Netflix preview and it looks good. Some other movies that i'd recommend that (I'd imagine) are along the same lines are: 21 Grams, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, and Lost in Translation. All beautiful, dark films.
Edit: I read up a little more and I think this is a little beyond those films in depth (none-the-less great films, please see them.) Is it anything like A Clockwork Orange?

Haven't seen that movie so wouldn't know and I don't watch too many disturbing films like this, but what I do know is that this one of the most disturbing films of all time, but for the right reasons I guess. Check it out and tell me what you think.

Age doesn't dictate maturity all the time, but it does have an impact on your experiences/maturity in that sense and anyway just watch the movie and you will see what I mean.

Ah, Requiem for a Dream, how I love thee.

Such a great film, and one that should be shown during drug education at school.

The only criticism I have, and it's no fault of RfaD's, is that the soundtrack is over-used-and-abused nowadays. Big shame.
VSigma100: If I've learned anything on here it's that Andsy is a crazy bastard. LOL.

Heard a lot of good things but never actually sat down and watched it, I love edgy films though. Someone mentioned A Clockwork Orange, love that movie, every time I hear the song "singing in the rain" I think of the good ole ultra violence lol

Ds Games!

It was one crazy movie, that's for sure. I should really watch it again some time soon, since it's been a while.

It is better left unsaid I guess. You have to see it and you will understand. It will have a better impact that way.

I quite liked this movie and it was actually one of the first movies I assessed in film school. It is a twisted and crazy movie, filmed in perhaps the most over-the-top style imaginable, and you feel like you're descending into madness as the film progresses. Like a lot of films like this, it's love or hate for the viewer. Like A Clockwork Orange, Natural Born Killers, Irreversible and Blue Velvet, I know plenty of people who liked it and an equal number of people who didn't get it.

Saw the movie for the first time when I was 12. Alone. The most depressing movie I've ever seen. Also one of the best. Probably my second favorite movie of the '00 decade (next to City of God).

I was actually 14-15 the first time I saw this movie. My best friend at the time (who was a guy) invited me and another girl over to watch it. Now, all three of us were pretty mature for our age, but I remember being incredibly disturbed by it at the time...it definitely left a powerful impact on me.

A few months ago I saw it for sale for pretty cheap so I picked up, but I have yet to actually watch it again. It is one of those movies that you really have to be in the right mind set to watch.

So it finally came in the mail (it had been hiding in our Que behind a ton of chick flicks and generic indie comedies [YAY being the only guy in the house with 2 gurlz!]) and I can safely say this was the most shocking movies I've ever seen, albeit not the most disturbing. The camera work was brilliant and both Leto and my ever-immaculate Jennywenny (That's MRS. Connelly to you pigs) were convincing and real. The whole slavery theme was refreshing and hypnotic the whole way through... I loved this movie.
Now Richard, If you could just find a copy of Cannibal Holocaust... :P
