Reading Dialogue; I know I do, how 'bout you?

I know some people that do, but what I'm asking is: Do you, the passionate gamers, read dialogue in video games? I do it all the time and I find it makes some games more exciting and gives characters more personality. All though all of this time I have never known who actually does this aside from me! Feel free to answer and explain why or why not.

EDIT: :P And when I mean reading dialogue, I mean reading it out loud.

I'm not one to read out the dialogue personally. I do read it, in my head, and find that the dialogue does add to the story of the game. I can't really skip dialogue. I'd feel like I'm wasting my time and missing so much. It would just ruin the game for me.

The first time I play through a game or the first time I encounter a piece of dialogue that I either have never seen before, or do not remember, I read every piece of dialogue intently. However, I'm on my third playthrough of Mass Effect right now. I know for a fact that I've seen and done one-hundred percent of the dialogue scenes, and talked to everyone I can talk to in the last to playthroughs. I'm basically skipping the skippable dialogue, and giving the same responses as I did in my last playthrough.

I always try to read the dialogue when possible, for me, reading the dialogue and understanding it makes the game more enjoyable because you know what is actually going on. I have to say that I don't often read the dialogue aloud :D I read it in my head more.

I was going to answer yes until I read your edit. I always read it in my head, unless it's a flash game and I don't care about story and I just want to play. But in "real" games I always follow the story.
I don't remember ever reading dialogue aloud though.

I always read the dialog (now out loud) I have to have a story or I get bored. if the game lasts for more then 10 hours it better have a story to keep me into it

I always do with a few small exceptions in something like starfy game where I may not be too concerned with it. Since I play a lot of rpgs on my ds, it helps a lot to read the, and it's rewarding in games like dragon quest where there are a lot of small details waiting to be found just by talking to everyone.

I meant do you read it out loud? I know most of us read the dialogue, but reading it out loud is another thing.

Only if I feel like being stupid, giving the characters funny accents and voices. This isn't very funny if nobody is there to hear it, so I sometimes just give them a funny voice in my head, and it's fun sometimes, especially with the different accents I've been seeing in DQ 4, especially the russian.

if possible i always but the subtitles on and read them cause i dont speak english as my primary language as im from finland and i might not understand everything they say or the way they pronaunce it so i read it and i might understand it. its also good practice if you want to learn english, put the subtitles on listen to what is said in the game and read how its written. thats how i have learned most of my english, and i aint trying to boast but im the one of the best english speaking ppl in my school (got in all my english tests atleast a 9 some times even a 10)

What do you mean by a 9 or a 10? Is that out of 10 points?

Oh you meant reading it aloud? Only if it is something really silly or if I'm drunk or something ha it's not like I sit there and read out loud lines and lines of dialogue to myself.
Slowbeef: Hold on it's the evil wizard who's spinning and striking a pose. And also giant swords, why the hell not.

Have you ever tried it? It can get you to understand the dialogue more, as well as give the characters a new sense of personality and likeability, although it does get tiring when there are long scenes, and I eventually just stop.
