Hey y'all, One of the most common topics that we see in this forum are people asking for game recommendations, or advice on which game they should select if they have to choose between a few. We now have a pinned topic where everyone can make such posts in one place, as opposed to having several "What should I buy?" topics that ask essentially the same question. This is an effort to prevent duplicate topics, so we ask that people post here rather than starting an entirely new thread. It helps to keep the forum free of clutter. Feel free to post your requests for advice here, and feel free to respond and make recommendations to others as well. Cheers

OK, i'll start the ball rolling. I don't know what game i should be getting next, can anybody help me??? I've got a short list of: Modnation Racers Demons Souls (new release in the UK) Lego Harry Potter Mario Galaxy 2 Alan Wake Animal Crossing Wii What would you recommend from these choices and why? Also I would like a decent online co-op game for the 360 as I've just renewed my gold membership and haven't played it for ages, it could be a new or old release i'm not too bothered. Any good suggestions? |

Bediger.. I'd personally sway more towards Mario Galaxy 2 and Demon SOul's over the other titles, however be aware that DS is fiendishly tough, I know it's mentioned alot, but it can be rather frustrating at times  As for Co Op... Come play Crackdown 2 with me at launch <3 |

Mario Galaxy 2 is the safe choice. It's a lot like the first one but with crazier level design, which I am absolutely loving. It doesn't reinvent the wheel or make dramatic changes from the first game, but that's not exactly a bad thing. Demon's Souls is great if you're an action RPG fan, but the difficulty might make it a game you appreciate rather than enjoy. I am trying to make headway into it myself and I keep getting frustrated and putting it down. For the others, I recommend waiting for the price to drop. I wouldn't buy Alan Wake or Modnation Racers at full price, but I will be all over them once they go down to roughly $30 each. |

I think it's also a good idea to say what system(s) your looking to buy for, and what genres/games your looking into, rather than saying something like "I have enough money for a game, what do I buy?" |

browland, could we possibley used this thread as a center for "What game should I beat next, or play next?" I know not many people would really use it for that, but I might ask what game I should try beating next and what not. Just a suggestion. |

Definatly go for Galaxy 2, best game I've played since Uncharted 2. Everything about it is downright incredible. The game manages to consistantly throw new concepts at you throughout the entire 121 star quest, and then there's another 121 green stars to find. Music and graphics are also awesome. Modnation Racers is another I'd highly reccommend to get next prehaps, very fun racer. |

I don't see why not. I made this thread because we seem to have an abundance of "What game should I buy" topics and it seemed logical to have one central topic, but this can easily be a dual thread for games people should buy and games people should play next. |

Thanks for all your suggestions, as it happens a good mate of mine is swinging me a good deal on crackdown 2. He was fanatical about the first game and convinced me that this would be a decent co-op experience. I'm still in two minds about Mario Galaxy 2 though... |

I'm partial to the short but super sweet Alan Wake. It's in my top 5 for this generation of gaming... Of course Ghostbusters, and Force Unleashed are in my top 5 as well, so I have apparent different tastes than everyone else in the gaming community lol... |

I got 100$ from Eighth Grade graduation but I'm not sure what to spend it on... I got so many choices but I can only get so much with my budget! Hmm... out of those choices I have only played three: Wind Waker, Pikmin (except on GCN), and Wario Land: Shake It. I would say Wind Waker, although I was not as fond of it as most everyone was (just not that big a Zelda fan). You will still be impressed, however. If you haven't played any of them, may I suggest renting one you are unsure about? I don't rent anymore and don't have Game Fly, but it's an alternative for all of those choices. |

I want a DS game. Which out of all of these should I get: Wario Ware DIY Love Flipnote Studio, love the Wario Ware games; this seems to be in the middle Starfy I like the Kirby games, and I love the graphics on this game (from what I've seen) Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey I LOVED The Dark Spire (it's similar to The Dark Spire, right?), and haven't played a SMT game before. (Wait for) Dragon's Quest 9 Looks like an amazing game to sink your teeth into, I really loved Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker. |

Chrono Trigger DS is a very good choice for an RPG, I'd say get this game 1st. Wind Waker is pretty sweet. It's Zelda, a good choice. Castlevania Dracula X Chronicles is a great remake. |

@ Soawsum - $100 will get your pretty far since most of the games listed are now budget titles. Chrono Trigger and Pikmin are the two best games on your list, however Wario Land is also excellent. I recommend getting all three, which should come in well under $100 if you shop around. @ Matt456 - I've heard mixed things about WarioWare DIY and Strange Journey, so I would only pick them up if they are reasonably priced. However, you can't go wrong with a Dragon Quest game. I loved parts IV and V on the DS and I imagine part IX will be just as good. |

It depends on what kind of RPG you're into. Final Fantasy XIII is a great game with a dramatic plot, an interesting battle system and some challenging boss fights. If you're played a Fallout Game before, you'll know what to expect. Lot's of exploration and opportunities for going off the beaten path, which ultimately provides more replay value, while Final Fantasy is more linear and story-driven. It's ultimately depends on what's your cup of tea. Personally, I highly recommend Final Fantasy XIII because of the story that sucks you in. I tried to get into Fallout 3, however I had the same problem as I did with Oblivion - too much to do and lots of treking over vast areas made me feel less connected to what was going on and I eventually lost interest. Some people love that, but I prefer a good story and characters I grow to like. Edited by browland1, Jul 16 2010, 11:59 AM.

So I've been debating through a bunch of J-RPGs lately and I've finally narrowed it down to 5, but I need help deciding which one to start with now. Valkyria Chronicles (PlayStation 3) Final Fantasy XIII (PlayStation 3) Resonance of Fate (PlayStation 3) Record of Agarest War (Xbox 360) Lost Odyssey (Xbox 360) What do you guys think?  EDIT: I picked up Record of Agarest War Limited Edition almost complete for 25 dollars. I say almost complete because the seller wanted to keep the pillow case. Hey guys, I've been wanting to get an FPS for my Wii. I'm going to wait on The Conduit though as I want a more a realistic war like one (i.e. Call of Duty and Medal of Honor). I do however want the game to feature the precision controls that everyone is raving about in The Conduit, this is very crucial. I also would like the game to have good online functionality with many people playing online so its never hard to find others to play with, you know what I mean lol. Lastly I would like it to have the best graphics of any FPS on the Wii (once again being one of those realistic war games, not The Conduit or anything). I know one of you or more probably owns many Wii FPS's and can narrow down my specifications to the one that is right for me. It is greatly appreciated and thank you to whoever can do this for me.

I cant properly judge FFXIII as i have only seen my flat mate play it endlessly and not actually played it myself. Personally though, i would wait for fallout. I think the freedom and the humour and the choice to do what you want is far more worth your cash than another random story in the FF franchise. Though i am a little jaded on the whole FF thing to be honest...i like them up to 9 and just cant be bothered with the rest. (And im a bit of a fallout fanboy) |
