How do you set up LAN. My friend and I want to set up a LAN to play F.E.A.R. If someone could help us that would be great. |

If you are talking about a PC Lan then the best thing you need is to have a proper topology setup. DSL/Cable -> Router -> each PC Sometimes your cable modem/dsl model have a 4+ port router built in. Ideally each PC will be on the same network workgroup in windows but usually it doesn't matter. You'll need to know which IP address on your local network each computer is on. You can do that via googling "ipconfig" on google. One computer will run the dedicated server on the network then you will point each other PC to that computer in the game finder built into the game. Better yet, you could have a laptop on the network running a dedicated server so 1 computer will not get 0 ping because the server is running on the machine that guy is playing from. My person setup is a westel DSL router runninging 'bridged' mode that connects to a D-Link Wireless router that also has 4 ethernet ports. You can also look into Hamachi which is a VPN client. It will let you setup a virtual network to your friend at his house to your house and you can play IPX networking ( local networking ) across the internet. Then when he comes over to your house with his PC you just use the hamachi IP's they give you for the game server IP like you did online. Hope that helps, but that did get a bit technical.
