Does anybody else here think that Uncharted 1 or 2.. is overrated? I mean they' are really fun the first time through, but after that? You play through again to get the trophies? Or the online, which is the only reason I still have my Uncharted 2. But I still have a lot more fun playing Ratchet & Clank games! |

Replaying an Uncharted game is as much fun as rewatching a summer blockbuster. It's still good, but no where near as good as the first time. I think it deserves all the praise it gets. One of the best, if not the best third person experiences you can get. Once you're done with single player you can hop on over to multiplayer and have tons of fun with all the weapons, characters, and high-octane action you experienced in the campaign. Definitely deserved all the GOTYs it got, if you ask me. The only thing I didn't like about Uncharted 2 was that it completely overshadowed R&CF:ACT, and for that I am sad

I agree with you. The first time I played through Drake's Fortune was amazing, the second time was still great but not nearly as awesome as the first time. Uncharted 2 was also VERY good, this is the ONLY game I can think of right now that I played through the campaign 100% before even touching the online multiplayer, which to this day is extremely fun. |

I don't think it is over rated. It is the only game I've played that invokes 'interactive summer blockbuster' feel to it. The original Tomb Raider and it's direct sequel tried but ultimately the graphics couldn't bring you in as far as you could have. The nature of that type of game plot leaves little playability to cling to emergent game mechanics or multi player. That being said, there are a lot of not talked about success stories with these games. For instance, a lot of compiler toolchain breakthroughs and methodologies from the Uncharted series has given the entire PS3 community hope for more efficient use of the hardware. So not only is the game good for most people, if only at least one or two times, but also for the platform. Oh yeah, and between Uncharted and Mass Effect we are seeing a lot of voice over performances becoming more than just a tack-on. Games are being created around the concept of good story-telling through voice. |

You know what they say, every time something has more then 100 fans, it's overrated. I guess people feel the need to maintain a certain sense of individuality and therefore resent anything that might earn them the dreaded "sheep" label |

I don't think they are over-rated at all. I started replaying Uncharted 1 almost right after I beat it on a higher difficulty (before trophies) and I just got Uncharted 2 a few weeks ago. I need to get back to that one as it has been about a week since I played it. The only problem with the games is that they do seem rather short, when you sit down and put time into them. Summer Blockbuster does seem to fit the bill, except the hype is generally warranted for these games. Can something ever just be rated for what it is?

I don't care about replayability because to be honest, I rarely replay my games. That being said, I don't think they are overrated. I had great experiences with both. Amazing games in so many ways. |

I'm late to the party here but I just finally got around to playing Uncharted: Drake's Fortune and WOW.....this game is AMAZING. I am on my first play-through right now and am a little past halfway through the game. The graphics are stunning, the platforming is like tomb raider meets prince of persia, the combat/duck and cover/shooting mechanics are really tight, the story is engaging with entertaining voice acting...etc. etc. I really can't think of one thing to even nitpick about with this game. I am completely addicted right now and can see myself playing through it a 2nd time right after I finish it. The main thing that has left an impression on me is how fun the cover system/shooter aspects are for a player like me. Let me tell you I SUCK at 3d enviroment FPS's and 3rd Person shooters and I am not great at Uncharted....but even when I get wasted I keep coming back for more. If a shooter can make me feel this way it is pretty dang good in my book. I would say this game deserves all the praise it has received. Edited by stratamaster78, Nov 12 2010, 04:50 PM.
