Sega Does What Nintendon't

I remember the old school Dos pc gaming days. I had a Tandy 1000 when I was a kid and played a lot of the old Sierra games from floppy disks. I have fond memories of playing that old Tandy 1000.

Well I had family fued on my original Tandy 1000 EX. 5.25" floppy drive and dos 3.3. When I got my 386 I would run commander keen, wolfenstein, doom, the first Civilization, F-19 Stealth Fighter, Mantis: Experimental fighter, xcom, Street Fighter ( still have that one somewhere around here I think ).

I got into the BBS scene, met my highschool sweetheart on the local commercial one lol. The good ol' days of dos, 14.4 modems and snubbing your nose at packard bells.

Ahh the good ol days of DOS. I still remember all the DOS commands from when I was little. I use to have to uninstall a game when I wanted to play another since my hard drive was so small. The DOOM Shareware was 6 megs which was HUGE!!!

Heck I still enjoy the good old days of DOS on my Windows 7 PC thanks to the wonders of DOSBox! I just installed Raptor: Call of the Shadows today and have been having a blast with it. anyone with old DOS PC games laying around should give it a try its well worth it.

I remember spending half the time making boot disks and editing the config.sys and autoexec.bat files just to get the darn things to run. I don't miss that much. :)

But I still spent a lot of time playing SimCity (original and 2000), SimFarm, X-Wing, and my personal favorites, the Wing Commander games. (I miss space combat sims.)

I played a little Ultima, too, but they were always kind of difficult for me.

I never had too many games on DOS but I remember having played:

Lost Vikings
Flashback
Decent
Doom
Doom II
Wolfenstein
Spear of Destiny
Hugo's House of horrors
Links 386
Blake Stone
Warcraft
Simcity 2000 (still one of my favs)
Civilization
Commander Keen
Duke Nukem
Dune II

{Edit}
I forgot about watching Johnny Castaway for hours too just to see what he would get up to.
{Edit}

There are some others not coming to mind at the moment. I kind of miss those old C directory prompt days in a way. A time when we had to actually type in that we wanted to use windows instead of it being the default start up (for most computers).

I remember my dad had a DOS based operating system called "Menu Works" on his 386 IBM. When I was 4, my older brother figured out that we could bypass dad's password lockout by using a DOS boot disk and operating the command prompt. I remember playing Space Quest a lot. first game I ever played in fact. There were a ton of games for dos that I liked a lot. Pinball Construction Set was particularly good. Wing Commander II was great also. Hard to imagine it came on like, 5 disks.

DOSBox has been great for reliving those days. I wish I could find an old copy of Menu Works though...
Hey guys. I run a youtube channel, and I also have a podcast. I have been broadcasting for about four years now. Come see me sometime!
