Do you guys think that Sega will ever produce another console? Personally, I would be a huge supporter. But that's only in my wants. In reality, what are the chances of Sega ever returning to the hardware business. Personally, I think there is a slim chance they might come out with another console years to come. But that's just me. |

Personally i would love to see it happen... and will pay for the system. BUT. It will NEVER happen. They will need to take the figth vs sony microsoft and nintendo. If sega going to salg alot of system, it will take alot of marketing. and sega dont have that monye! Sega have big issues making good game, after they start making only software. look at the sonic games! Also why there is no shenmue 3 yet...they dont have the monye to make it? they know they CANT make a shenmue 3 without cutting in the finances. And i will not want a shenmue 3 if is going to be as there sonic games!! maybe if a rich company, buying sega up? But as sega is now.... it will never happen! |

._. sega doesn't make good games anymore? sega is i believe the wii's number one third party supporter and has been making tons of money in the software business. Valkyria chronicles 2 Valkyria chronicles conduit 2 the conduit phantasy star portable 2 Resonance of fate yakuza 4 yakuza 3 yakuza 2 yakuza sonic & sega all stars racing Bayonetta phantasy star zero Mad world phantasy star portable house of the dead overkill sonic's ultimate genesis collection Condemned 2 virtua fighter 5 sonic rush sonic rush adventures these are more of there current titles cause there are more software games on the xbox and the ps2 that were amazing and sold pretty good. Also to answer the question i would not say it will never happen because there doing good right now. However they are making lots of money as a software company right now and too throw that all away to a console well... They would just have to know what they were doing and if they did make a console I think they should aim it straight too the more deeper games and not so much kiddy stuff or "casual". There is always a chance that they will go back to the hardware industry. |

I said they have issus making good game... i can too make a list with many not so good games... Look at the dreamcast games.... almost all games was good.... is not that anymore for sega! sadly... Ofc they will have games that they will make alot of monye on.... if not? the sega would not have ben here no more.. But dont tell me, that this is the best part of sega you have seen? My first system was a master system, and i have all sega consols... Let me tell you back then, the sega games was awsom!! If they make sooo much monye? where is: Nights shenmue golden axe warrior 2? street of rage shinobi gunstar heroes wonder boy alex the kidd a great sonic game jet set radio But i hope it will be better for sega in the furture? Maybe a new start with sonic 4? |

Yes, in the fact that they still make Arcade machines, which count as hardware. But for home console? Unlikely. Remember: People are fickle. Just because Internet Warrior #813724 says he'd buy a Dreamcast 2 at launch, doesn't = +1 confirmed purchase. Mr Internet Warrior would wait for reviews, feedback, reception, before parting with his monies. I don't think Sega have it in them to be honest, they're better off making awesome games, like the Ryu Ga Gotoku series. <3 |

.....no. I never enjoyed Sega. Never. I hate to sound closed minded like that, but the only games I ever remember having fun with was Sonic and Sonic is doing just fine on other consoles. So I see no need for Sega to come back. They would have a Hell of a time trying to keep up with Nintendo, Microsoft, and Sony anyways. |

Atari kept trying and trying over the years to secure their footing in the hardware business, and ultimately they failed and didn't see success past the early 80's. The amount of money they would have to invest (hardware, marketing, etc.) to make a system competitive with the "big three" would be immense. Sega is nice and nostalgic, but would you realistically drop another couple hundred dollars just for the name? Unless it had something that really set it apart, I think it would get lost in the shuffle. Historically, when the console market is too crowded, only two or three rise to the top and the rest die off. I think the Dreamcast is a fitting exit anyway. Well obviously these are not the glory years of sega I know that but it isn't like its all that bad either. Sega has said in interviews that they have been making very good money being a software company. Also there was a nights sequels on the wii that got pretty solid reviews. A new gunstar heroes was also released on the gameboy advance also getting pretty good reviews. As for great sonic games well i consider sonic rush to be a great game and I haven't heard a lot of negative things on it other then the fact some people say it plays it's self. As for shenmue 3 well they have been considering it a lot and it isn't impossible for them to make. I mean when it comes to the fans sega is a very good company. Do you think they didn't know that madworld and house of the dead overkill wasn't going to sell well. Of course they knew that or at least consider it but they did it for there fans and for the people who do want that stuff. You have to give all of these sequels from older generations time because from sale records all though there great they don't sell well. Sega always pumps out stuff to there fans but you have to understand if they dont reach out to other things and only pump out stuff to there fans then there going to fail as a software company. Also just because sega has released some bad games it doesn't mean anything. Nintendo has released some bad games Microsoft has released bad games and so has sony. Every company has released bad games even greats like Bethsada (rogue warrior). I'm not going to say that this is better then the dreamcast or genesis era cause it really isn't but im not going to say this is horrible for sega cause again it really isn't. |

Lets be real guys..what is Sega going to bring to the table? Nothing! We already have 3 home consoles in the market and each has it's own distinguishable factor. We have the wii with motion controls/casual audience/mass appeal/the classics. We have 360 with the hardcore games and the best online service. We have ps3 which has blu ray and most powerful hardware. Sega making a console is completely unnecessary. All Sega would do is make their games exclusive for their console to push it. Do you honestly want to pay a few hundred dollars to play sega exclusives that they make anyway in the current market. They need to focus on making quality games again not throwing their company off a cliff by going into the console market again. |

He speaks the truth! There is no demand from the market for a 4th console, even if it is Sega. The only people that would buy it would be the small hardcore fan base and collectors that grew up with Sega consoles. On a side note... I'm actually pleased with the number of good games that came from Sega this past year. I'm so excited for Valkyria Chronicles II!

To be honest i'd actually love to see sega come back with another console and would probably be stupid enough to buy one...which is one reason why they shouldnt. I dont need to spend £300 on a console that im not sure is gonna live long enough to have a decent library of games. I could only see it selling if it was great for media(blue-ray etc) and easily hacked for emulators(like original xbox). Though no company really likes thier consoles being hacked. |

Sega has stated time and time again since 2001 that they are out of the hardware end of things. End of story. Even after merging with Sammy holdings, they have put much more money still into arcade boards and pachinko machines (which have done very well for the company, as they are usually top 3 in earnings each year). Sega has even pretty much stopped being a developer in a way and has become much more focused especially on publishing. There aren't many games that are built in house with their own teams as they have outsourced most of the old IPs to others. They have also bought up games or developers to put out games under their label. Most of the games that have been listed before aren't Sega games at all. Valkyria Chronicles is pretty much the only new Sega IP that has been released and produced in house this generation that has had any marginal success that I can recall. Even then the sequel has been pushed to the PSP because of fears of developing a full blown PS3 title and it not selling well (which isn't very smart since almost all of Asia will just copy and pirate the game and hurt the overall sales). I suppose Yakuza is doing okay, but Sega was really apprehensive about putting out the 3rd title after the first 2 not doing very well. 4 is supposed to be on the way though. Still have yet to try one of the games because they are hard to come by, but I need to try, what I believe to be, the successor to Shenmue. Nights was an unsuccessful reboot. As was the Golden Axe: Beast Rider title. Streets of rage, Panzer Dragoon, Jet Set and Alex Kidd are all but dead. Sonic is in constant flux and sells well but pisses off the old fans of the series. Skies of Arcadia, Phantasy Star series and Dragon Force haven't gotten any love at all. It's just not looking well for Sega unless they can make successful reboots of something old, or create something fresh and new the way VC did on the PS3. I love Sega and I bleed blue, but to see this current state that they are in is very disheartening. Edited by sushi_b, Aug 23 2010, 10:04 AM.

I'd support the idea if they actually backed it up with good games and all that, but I don't find it likely. They crashed and burned in the console/handheld market so I don't think they'll be back. They're doing fine and seem to be content with being a third-party developer and I'm fine with that as well. Plus, I think it would be pretty embarrassing if they went back to consoles and continued their agressive marketing approach. "Sega Does What Nintendon't" would be laughed at after they developed games for Nintendo systems and others. If I was Sega I wouldn't risk going back, and I think they feel the same way. Well sega still makes games. And if they save all of their profits from their game profits eventually they would be able to create a new system that would make them some money but then sony nintendo and microsoft will make their version but better and sega would bite the dust again. |

Personally I would like to see Sega release another gaming console. I am enjoying playing my Genesis model 1.I think there is a slim chance Sega will return to making hardware. If it does happen I will def buy the system after doing some research. |
