I want to start doing PS3 reviews on my channel soon, and I just bought an HDMI cable for my PS3, and my computer monitor has an HDMI port, so if I wanted to record, is all that I would need be a screen capture program running while I play my games on it? And is it easy as plug-and-play with my PS3 and Monitor?

Doesn't work that way at all. Unless your monitor has a built in Capture card and I've never even heard of that. Search the forums here for capture card or video capture and look at those threads. This particular thing has been discussed a lot here I do believe.

Oh, so if I have a program that films all screen activity, that won't work?

I can get a free capture card from a friend, I'd just have to repair it, and get the software to run it, as he doesn't have that...

No, you monitor will display it just like a tv will... there is no connection between your PS3 and your computer and you are just playing it on your monitor while your computer is oblivious to what is on the screen.

Think about it like hooking two game systems up to the same TV. Say it's a Wii and a PS3. There is no way to save any data from one of those systems to the other. It's the same concept.

You will have to get some type of capture card to make that PS3 to PC connection so you can cature video. And that's where the searching comes in. There's a bunch of threads about capture cards and setups on here already that cover most of the knowledge needed to get them working right. And what you can't find here, you can always google the name of whatever capture card you get and see what software drivers and all are available for it.

Bear in mind, you can't record footage from HDMI from a PS3.

Can do it from Xbox 360. But not PS3.
