In a few days, I am going to be getting a new DS game and I was thinking about getting Dragon Quest IX. There's one problem. My house has Wi-Fi, but my DS Lite won't find it. Is it not worth getting without having Wi-Fi, or is it just a good game overall to have Wi-Fi or not? |

I haven't played the game yet, but as far as I know the only Wifi feature of the game is downloading new side-quests. I believe that every week (maybe month) for the next year they make something new available for download. With the stuff in the cartidge alone there's supposedly like 80+ hours of content so I wouldn't worry about missing out on the DLC. All of the multiplayer aspects are tied to local play, so not having Wifi doesn't remove any Multiplayer features. I have heard from some critics, however, that it may not be worth buying if you don't have friends to play with. Personally, when I buy the game I'll probably be playing completly alone, and I'm not worrying about it too much. I'll be able to get teh DLC but I see it as a neat extra. |

Thank you, I have been wanting another RPG lately for my DS, so I am glad to hear this. I should have read the article in my latest Nintendo Power Issue. LOL |

There's a ton of single player content in DQ 9. It is worth getting. Speaking of rpgs, which have you played already? |

The extra stuff is cumulative. So, you can wait months, before hopping onto the online store and downloading a whole host of stuff. I'm only 8 hours in, and I haven't had a chance to play with my partner yet, so I've just been soloing it. I hate JRPGS. But I love DQIX. It's simple, story does it's job, and the whole thing has so much charm, just draws you in. God damn, I think we need a THREAD. |

I have quite enjoyed the previous Dragon Quest games and you can always be assured of a good single-player experience. I don't use Wi-Fi on my DS, nor does anyone I know have the game or even an interest in playing it co-op, so I am perfectly fine with flying solo on this one. Games like Phantasy Star 0 are multiplayer centred, but most DS RPGs are fine when played alone. |

I just picked this up a little while ago, and had to put it back down because I need to finish DQ IV and have hit up Nostalgia, but the single player seemed to be fine. Nothing too special but not bad at all. DQ is known for being a little quirky and straight forward and this game does a good job of throwing you into the mix right away. I haven't gotten on the Wi-Fi myself yet but it sounds like it would be a lot of fun if I, or anyone else, did. The true core aspect of the game seems to lie there. |

Absolutely. I can't connect to Wi-Fi with my DS because of the WP4 Password problem, and i love this Game. It's really a good solid, and simple RPG. The new customization feature is also pretty cool. |

I really enjoy Dragon Quest 9 and I do not use the wifi feature. In fact I've enjoyed the previous entries in the series without wifi too. I think you'll enjoy the game without it. Enjoy. |
