Over the past 3 days, I've gone through a pretty wild ride for $20 on Sony's Playstation Store. Let's begin: It's Tuesday. My family is at K-Mart buying things in preperation for our vacation. Sure I got sandals and such, but recently I've been trying to stock up on as many handheld games as I could. So, putting Dimentium 2, Dragon Quest 9, and other DS titles on hold, I picked up a Playstation Network card to get a digital version of Dissidia Final Fantasy (I had the UMD version when I had a PSP 3000). When I got home, it wouldn't work. I got the error code "80023103" (you'd be surprised at how many codes I have memorized after all of this). This code, according to Sony's site, indicates a problem with the servers. So I decided I'd wait it out, try tommorrow. After the code failed the next day I decided to give the Sony Support Line a call. Without even asking what my error code was, they asked me for the code, they put it in their computers, and they told me that the card was not activated properly. I was told to go back to K-Mart and ask for a Reactivation or an Exchange. So, later that day I went to K-Mart to see what they would offer me. Since the card showed up as activated on the receipt, the Manager ordered the Returns... Person to call Sony to have them tell K-Mart. Now, 2 different measures were being taken to acquire the number: 1. I called my father who was at home and instructed him on where to find the manual for my PSP Go to get the manual, and 2. The people in the electronics... I'm guessing opened up a PSP Go for the manual. Both sources found the phone number at almost the exact same time, and then the woman called them. After an awkward explanation (and about a 10 minute wait), they did tell the store that it was not activated properly. So, this allowed me to get a new PSN Card for free... after that, the manager insisted that they recall Sony to make sure that this code was activated properly. So after another awkward explanation and 10 minute wait, this code was deemed activated by Sony's Support line. The woman then gave me all the information on the person who helped her, and we left giving a final hearty thanks. Alright! We drove home, I put the PSN Code in, and... 80023103... well that sucks. So I called Sony for the third time that day, and was told that the servers are down for maintanence and that I would have to wait anohter 25 moinutes or so before I could redeem my code. I waited about 40 minutes, didn't work. She also said that "It'll definatly work tommorrow", so I said, "Whatever, I'll wait a little bit more." Thursday. Woke up. Tried the code. Of course, 80023103. What happened to it definatly working today? I don't know. So I got back on the phone, and there was a preset recording as soon as you called them saying that the servers are down for maintenence and will be back up shortly. FINE. I'LL WAIT A BIT MORE. I'LL PLAY SOME PAPER MARIO, THAT'S A JOLLY GOOD, NON SONY EXPERIENCE! So, about 15 minutes ago I retried the code and it worked. I bought Dissidia. It is now downloading. Yayz. |

I just avoid digital downloads as much as I can, I prefer to own physical copies of games. But I had this sort of problem one time when trying to get MvC2 on PSN. |

Ouch, that sucks man. Like I said, those cards suck, because you're never sure if the person behind the register actually activated it properly. Like sdcpro said, loved that one line towards the end xD |

That's a terrible story. I went through an equally horrifying experience trying to buy a copy of Mega Man X Collection for the PS2 many years ago. It took about two months to finally get the game. Terrible terrible. |

LOL, I love my PSP Go. Sure the $250 price was hard to swallow, but once I got past that initial hump I have been completly happy with my Go. I owned a PSP 1000 and 3000 before I had my Go (the Go is currently the only PSP model I own), and I can definatly say that the PSP Go is my favorite PSP Model. For a handheld I would always rather have it digitaly anyway so it's perfect for me. I also really love the 16 gigs of internal memory and super portable size. It just perfectly suits me but I'll agree in saying that it isn't for everyone. |
