 It's hard not to think of this as SEGA Vs. Nintendo.... I looove SEGA but Sonic better then Mario? There should be a third option for Alex Kidd. Screw it, I picked Sonic because I have an immature fanboy passion for SEGA. =D

In all seriousness, I wouldn't even put a Sonic game in my top 20 genesis games. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

 Personally I feel like Sonic is a better character but Mario has better games so that makes Mario better.

 Sonic had his day, but Mario has been the poster boy for consistently great games. I'm not much of a platformer gamer these days, but I have fond memories playing both series. I like Sonic as a character more because of Nostalgia. He was such a popular icon in the 90s and I loved the cartoon(the dark one).
